I'm an Electric Unicycle enthusiast. Somehow they have taken over my life :-) Here you'll find ride videos, equipment reviews, repair videos, and anything else related to the most fun transportation device ever created.
Build quality, waterproofing, battery cells, lights and trolley (this still looks sketchy...) are noticeable better than the mten4. Also by being faster it has more headroom (range test pending at different speeds). And it seems more stable by the comments and being 1 inch bigger. It is not much larger, it is just heavier. If they discontinue the Mten4, then the smallest option would be Mten Mini which is way much more limited as far as speed and range. I want to see courageous and strong people try backpacks for the Mten5 and the Falcon (I checked and there are 95liters backpacks like the ones people use for camping and the weight would be similar). What I don't like so far is the price of the Mten5, and the telescopic trolley by the looks of it. Nice content Marty, you give off nice guy vibes.
Marty: "You want to try the hill" Roger: "Sure!!" Roger never ceases to entertain 🥰 "Justin's such a disappointment" 🤣 I can't believe he didn't notice the difference in the weight!!
Seriously, honest opinion Marty, do you think that this wheel is worth or wait on something different or get something different? I ask this Marty because I am finally thinking of making this my first wheel.
It's just my opinion but I wouldn't suggest an Mten as the first wheel. People have done it, but in many ways it's actually an advanced wheel. I think there are better options, like the Falcon.
Batteries get 8 to nine percent lighter each year very consistently. If solid state batteries get to the point they are promised there could be a leap in energy density. This could mean a 4000wh batter which weighs 34 to 35 pounds would weight approximately 21 pounds on the conservative optimistic side and could be as light as 17 pounds
@@ElectricUnicycles pedal assist on the lynx gets rid of the wobbles in the latest firmware.. L came with this set to 50% out of the box likely why it feels more stable as well.
greetings, would you recommend the begode falcon for a beginner like myself?, and also city or knobby tire? just for a daily commute of about 10 miles.I see you having your bodies tested, but what are YOUR thoughts? Please advice, cheers.
I think the Falcon would be a very nice beginner wheel. Small, lightweight, unobtrusive, and with a 20+ mile range. Just understand that you may very well outgrow it and eventually want something faster for your commute. But even after acquiring a better wheel I think you would want to keep the Falcon. Street tire, absolutely.
I thought "Sherman S" was short for "Sherman Suspension" and I think the "L" is just for "Lynx" because they have essentially combined the Sherman and the Lynx together to make this wheel. Even as popular as the Lynx is, is doesn't have as strong branding as the Sherman name does. It has had more iterations at Leaperkim and also has more of that strong tank feel compared to the Lynx name.
Pedal height and configuration is identical to the Lynx. They are not adjustable. There are 3rd party accessories that allow you to change the pedal height.
oh my goodness, and i have only had my Lynx for approximately two weeks. and i have noticed that i only get approximately 55 to 60 miles of range, although i’m cruising 35 to 45 miles per hour every chance i get 50-60% of the ride. to think of what wheels will be coming out in the next two years is truly beyond imagination. i mean, what the wheels will be capable of. next level, beyond beyond.
great video quality, and great video. it amazes me that you are only traveling at 28 miles per hour, watching your video, it looks like you are traveling 50 miles per hour or more.
my posts get deleted from facebook, is because i am not from USA? I even tried to contact via forums.electricunicycle but the login says it's faulty, the FB help page has comments turned off, sooo frustrating, i needed help with a gouge/nick in my wheel well, the post appeared briefly a few hours ago and i got one comment and now it's gone, how can i get my posts to stay on the facebook group? who is deleting them, it happened previously too, i really needed help/advice and all i get is deleted
I also prefer the pedal at -2, also on those more powerful wheels its easier to accelerate and brake in medium mode i use medium 60% all my previous wheels were in hard mode and it was perfect but on my Lynx medium is the best, i don't like the soft mode the pedals dip way too much. The L seems more stable than the Lynx though probably because of the weight and the larger tire.
Seems incredibly efficient. I know I typically see 45-55Wh/Mi on my OG Sherman at about the same average riding speed for the tour, but was seeing you getting readings in the 30s when you were going over 30mph, and not even doing seated riding, which would improve the numbers even more. Amazing.
The Santa Fe dam at 17:45 reminds me of the most boring parts of the Danube river cycle path I have ridden on my EUC, just without the Danube.... speed is the only thing that can make such paths halfway interesting to ride...
That is about my riding weight and I'm very tempted to stick with the 70 lb spring but I think 66 would work very nicely. I don't think I would go lower
@@ElectricUnicycles I usually ride lightweight non suspension wheels everyday. The Sherman L has safety, range, suspension and style but a lot heavier (70-108lb) than the wheels I usually ride. I’m wondering if it’s gonna be a big change if I switch to the Sherman L from a street rider? 🙏
I agree, the Sherman L is better than the Lynx. I would given it a whole new military tank name. I would love to have this wheel as a winter commuter. Also... nice play, Leaper Kim.
I’m still riding a sherman without suspension and I have a lot for which to look forward. Here call me out if i’m wrong: Nice cushy suspension with lots of options (4 shocks ?? seriously, so curious maybe flawed?) Active bms , higher current lower resistance batteries, more weight unless I consider the Falcon, possibly (very important to me) easier maintenance, I have never ridden seated (there is that), a wheel that does not self explode meaning the rim, fake safety and ip certification, hopefully fail safe for battery or other issues (where is AI and I don’t mean fuzzy logic lol). I won’t continue but just to say I can wait but I can’t “wait.”
4 shocks is the Kingsong F22. The Sherman-L uses the same 2 FastAce shocks found on the Lynx with a slightly different but compatible springs (linear versus progressive).
Sorry, I was not clear. I was “ranting” about All these new wheels and the features All of these wheels they are coming with some really interesting benefits. I do not get why kingston would try to add 4 suspension rails and or shocks because if one goes out the wheel will be off balance meanwhile the weight of 4 vs 2 and likelihood of failure is doubled as is cost?
Obviously, one of the main reasons people will get Sherman L is because of its 4,000wh battery packs. That being said, 30mph range test is kind of pointless these days. People want to see if it can do 60miles distance at 50mph all the way.
I’m a 30mph rider max 😅. I don’t feel the urge to meet my maker yet 😅. This range test makes absolute sense in my opinion. But I respect your opinion also.☺️👍
@@ElectricUnicycles Yes, 30mph range test on the top performance long range wheel with 4,000wh is pointless, because everyone knows that it will go forever at 30mph. We already know. Ask yourself, would you drive 30mph to the next city that's 60miles away when you can drive 50mph? Most people who will get this wheel want to know how far it can go at high cruising speed on long distance. p.s. GPS speed please, because cars don't care wheel speed.
I think for a lot of people, weight is a bigger concern than range, so I can see the Lynx still being the better wheel for most people even if money isn't factor.
Great video Marty. I just saw an image uploaded showing the voltages and associated % of battery left for the Sherman L, and while your EUC World was displaying 126.5V and 45%, the chart I saw was 126.4V and 30%. Do you think EUC World numbers are more accurate in real world conditions?
Great feedback again Marty. Will have to agree the Sherman L will the upgrade for the vast majority of riders in 2024. Question, do you know the make/manufacturer of the Tyre?
When you do the next range test, or any longer ride, can you tell us what EUCworld shows for Wh/mi ? The Sherman L looks like it may have to be my next wheel next year, even though I bought a new wheel just last fall.
You don’t have to buy it my guy, you’re just waking up with beef. Some people like to see what new technology is coming out, improvements and such, and advancements are a good thing.
We like to see the latest and the greatest. Marty’s videos checks all the boxes. Nobody’s forcing to sell or buy here just transparency of the capabilities of the new wheels out there.
