I share my entrepreneurial and creative journey with you each week. I have been a designer for over 25 years. Spending my days exploring illustration, painting, collage all with a love of color, typography, and finding new uses for discarded things.
One of the best conversations about creating art I have ever heard. The heart, faith, and philosophy behind the artist journey aligns so much with my own. God bless the woman who took you aside Sandi and “gave it to you.” Beautiful lesson to learn and applies to most of us. I never thought of it as self worship but I think you nailed it. Too much worrying about what others think. Thanks so much for sharing. I am in my first art show this week and needed the reminder.,❤❤
This! I actually did the exact same thing, hiring people younger than me because I'm intimidated then getting frustrated at the lack of experience. Lesson absolutely learned!
It is hard at anytime to hire someone better than we are but trust is the one thing you have to have. We have to trust them to do the job. thanks for sharing!
Me toooooo! I really dove in because of Sandi. I LOVE her energy and her perspective on painting. I love her paintings!!! thanks for watching and commenting!
One of the great things about you - watching your video feels exactly as if I am on a call with you. Diane is THAT consistently warm and approachable. ❤️
I agree Arthur! And I think I get in my head too much, maybe we just need to create things we like and share them fully with people. I love how Marius would load up 30 paintings and go sell them and then make rent for the next month. Yes he was making money but he was spreading his joy. I love his style and the fun and freedom it represents. I hope you got to sketch and doodle!!!
Me too. I am always too slow and the pieces I want are already sold. Ha i just have to be more on top of it. I know i will get one soon! good luck to you on your move and settling. and thanks for watching!!!
I do wish that teachers were better educated about the creative mind. Children who are creative don't fit into the educational system and many times shamed. Can we talk to grade school teachers in a future podcast?
My brain turned "the wall of awful" into "the wall of waffles".... So you lost me there.. The rest of the episode I was thinking about a waffle wall, and all the choices, questions and issues a waffle wall would have created!! Thank you for a great chat, I'm looking forward to next time ❤❤
i am cracking up but also loving the waffle wall idea! it gives me so many ideas. I love how sometimes we hear something wrong but it points us in a new direction. i LOVE this!!!
@@CreativesIgnite Right!! And now I really want waffles!!! And a wall... of waffles..? Like, is it a real wall with waffles pattern, or a wall of real waffles??? I have so many questions!! This will keep me awake at night!!
WOW, I am so so so grateful to have found this wonderful ladies! So stoked that I can call you sisters! You are truly blessing me in this season of my life.
Amen!!!! me too I am so grateful it was what you needed, Hannelore (is that right?). Sorry it took me a little bit to get back to you. Sandi is truly a blessing and I love watching her journey! So glad you watched!!! Praying for you in this season.
So lovely to hear about how your Dad came to know the Lord! God works in all things for the good of those who love Him. I really enjoy your videos. Thanks!
Amen! I am so so glad. I remember calling his mom (my Memama) and telling her and she said, "I've been praying for him for over 60 years." And i thought wow that's a long time for unanswered prayers but I am so so glad she never gave up. Thank you for watching WarmTeaCosy. I would love to know your real name, if you want to email me it you can. diane@creativesignite.com. thank you so much for your kind words and for watching my videos. I super super appreciate it, more than you know.
I am not religious in the slightest, but Sandi's story about the missionary woman chastising her for being selfish with the gift God gave her really resonated with me. If I'm too scared to share what I make, I'm ego-driven. My life is devoted to integrity, honesty and kindness. When I hide my light under a bushel, so to speak, I betray those values: integrity demands being true to who I am and what I am becoming. Honesty demands that I show myself to those who love me, warts and all. And kindness demands that I am kind to myself. If I move through the world with the expectation of being hurt, misunderstood, or disappointing then I deny, in my ego, that others share my values. I know better than that - I'd rather be disappointed in something/someone than surprised by its/their goodness. What a wonderful interview with two wonderful women. Thank you.
Thank you Kate. We all have something to give. Many people don't know what to devote their life to. It is hard to figure out and i am glad you have direction. And glad you won't be scared to shine your light. Even when it's not perfect. That's what i love about Sandi, she shows the mess-ups and the journey. And she makes some incredible art along the way. thanks for watching Kate!
Wait, was this last wednesday? I have lost track of time... I think I missed it last wednesday because you have set your time, but we haven't.. so I am in a loop until March 31, when we set the time too. It would be so helpful if everyone who mess with the daylight saving time, could do it the same time!!
Lol, it is kind of funny that it looks like you two are in the same room doing the interview 😄 Great talk 🥰 This woman is effective, done so many cool things!!
I like planning too but agree that it can be overwhelming. And sometimes, for me, the PLANning takes over from the DO-ing - which isn't good 🤪. Dreading: Feeling overwhelmed by so much to do Looking forward to: A new project that I'm starting
I can so relate to this!!! I am absolutely not good at regulate my energy. The stuff I love, I can go forever, but other stuff... I can hardly get up from my couch!!! I can stare at the vacuum cleaner for days and days... Amazing chat between two smart lovely ladies 🥰
I am so impressed with all of you who can make a schedule and stick to it 😶 And I totally agree with you, January should be mental health month. May makes absolutely no sense!!!
Remember Tommy's talking to you? Tall man? remember? maybe not. Hope i answered your question on marco polo! and You are entered to win some fun art supplies during Love on Designers month! because you made a comment! yay Eric!!!
Yes she did. Just hard to lose someone who was such a big part of your life and that I shared so much with only her. But God is always with me. I am never alone.
Oh my goodness I love love loved this video!!! Sandi is such an inspiration!! Love her videos and she reminds me when watching her to enjoy the process!! God Bless you both ❤❤❤
Dang girl, you are stepping up your sewing game!! Zippers are hard (at least that's what I've heard. The best I could have accomplished would have been to glue on some velcro 😄). I think my biggest win this year is getting to know more people online, that has turned into me getting some requests about art collaborations. I have been more inspired lately, and wish I could have painted all the images that poppes up in my brain. I have also been able to paint a bit more loose (sometimes at least, it's a hard habit to brake 😉) So there you go, my wins that I can think of. And we both know that if I doesn't stop typing now, this will be awfully long 😊Sorry I wasn't there for the live, but I will be there next year. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas, Diane 🥰
I do too!!!! Her joy is infectious and I love the freedom in what she creates. She makes me want to grab my paints and tools right then and there and get started! Thanks for watching Kathy!
The right ear bud is troublesome for me as well! A great conversation, simply being good people and honest goes a long way to generating long and fruitful business relationships.
We just have to love people who works for helping out charity companies!! I might have missed a couple of things in there because I used the 1,5 speed for the first time 😄Great episode ❤
@CreativesIgnite yeah, usually I watch YT on my TV, and there I have to watch at normal speed. But I have to admit it's fun to watch at 1,5 speed. Especially when people laugh 😄
I know right! He is so talented! so inspiring all his different styles! You have a lot of different styles too! Thanks Maija! We are live tomorrow (Thursday at 6:30pm GMT) next week we will be back to normal.
Thank goodness for the care of the hand-done. I know AI is a step forward in many directions. I don't think it will replace designers, writers, artists. It is a new form. And like a screwdriver makes some things easier. But a novice with a screwdriver can't do things the way a professional can. AI is a tool. Thanks for the reply William.
I think the workspace is so important, and I really wish I could have more space to spread out all my stuff without being totally overwhelmed! I know, I know.. maybe if I stopped accumulating more and more art supplies, I wouldn't be so overwhelmed... 😳😂
I am so similar. I made myself not buy anything in Sept and am continuing it in OCT. it is REALLY hard. But on the other hand i am cleaning up my office and art space and it is getting less overwhelming. Now just to set aside time to make some art. Hopefully this weekend, after I finish a client website. <3
