YAMATAI is a student group at Cornell University dedicated to spreading the art and joy of taiko. Through rigorous study and training, Yamatai seeks to explore musical possibilities of taiko drumming in contemporary adaptations while respecting the origins of the traditional art. 「邪馬台」(ヤマタイ)は、コーネル大学の学生団体で、太鼓の芸術と喜びを広めることに専念しております。厳格な研究とトレーニングを通じて、伝統的な芸術の起源を尊重しながら、現代の太鼓演奏の音楽的な可能性を探求しようとしております。

Drumming as a piece of performance art...if you had to take up any form of drumming from anywhere in the world...then this drumming would be at the top of the list...
I have only been able to experience a Taiko Drum performance twice in my life. They were amazing. The dedication that each drummer puts into their craft is unbelievable. Thank you for sharing some of that skill and experience with us.
