These kinds of videos are basically stupid. Seriously. All things being equal, why would I want to intentionally use a crappier camera than I could otherwise use? I get making sure people know they dont have to buy the latest greatest, but what is with this desperate need youtubers suddenly seem to have to convince us we should actively not buy good stuff??? I see this in all areas of tech. The only conclusion I can come to is ya'll are doing it because you want clicks, you know most of your viewers cant afford the best stuff, so you make these videos for the vast quantity of viewers who are only here for confirmation that they are fine without spending money they dont have.... To be clear, I do this on my own channel, I make it clear to viewers they can still have fun with a 6th gen i7 with a 980Ti, but unlike you, im not sitting there trying to convince people they actively should not buy a 4090
I'm not a photographer but this applies to FPV as well, just get some gear and get good at using it. After using it heavy, you'll see what it's missing, work around it, then give it a bunch more time to be super sure it's not just a skill issue.
The RX1R was my first FF camera. I still have it. I get some great shots - when I'm paying attention. I have a bunch of sonys, leicas, sigmas, panasonics. It's hard to remember what camera menu does what. My only complaint is that the RX battery system is okay for the RX100s, but runs out fast in such a significant sensor/lens combination.
Spending 1000s of $ on a fixed lens camera when you can buy cameras that are just as good or better with interchangeable lenses is just a fad, just like a fixies, these bicycles without brakes and gears.
I have taken photos for decades and when I look at my old photos I took 20 years ago, I always wish that I had more megapixels back then. One have to balance the ease of taking photos against how much detail one wants to capture. I have a GF1 as well as a GFX100S, I use them for doing different things. Each occasion is different, let alone different photographers. Thus this "You don’t need a high-resolution camera" is just too broad a brush.
Great video, I related to just about everything you said. I have created a reminder to come back & view this again in a few weeks when I inevitably start thinking about buying new kit!
Mate seriously, I've watched this vid now a few times and it really resonates with me. I'm a shit photographer but I do love the art. I watch so many vids on GAS, reviews, formats, masterclasses etc. etc. blah, blah, blah, and I still suck. Purchasing gear is like Hammer, it makes you feel good there and then until it wears off and then you're back to where you started, albeit so far out of pocket, it isn't funny. So yes, get out there and use what you've got. Get creative and be appreciative of what you actually have in your hands is far beyond the skills you think you have. FFS, stop thinking tech will make you better, because you'll end up bankrupt. After all, it's the art and skill that get the results, not a stop or two more of DR or IBIS.... marketing is for suckers. BZ brother on your content.
When I used the Canon EOS system I had the 40mm f2.8 pancake and this was a brilliant lens with a really close focus. Full frame too. I still tend to use my old Fuji X100s for street photography though.... I also now have an old Canon 28mm FD f2.8 which I use with an adapter on my Sony cameras.
I want to get into sports photography by photographing my high schools games (any sport) and I love the m34 setup. But I’m curious where to start? Any budget options ff or m43? Nothing serious just wanting to start shooting
I bought a fairly used copy of RX1 at the start of last year to carry me through a project. Truly, my love for the images this camera generates is unmatched. It's not as snappy as it could be, it's not as ergonomic as it could be, yes, the battery life sucks, yes, now I have a dust speck that will never go away, and YES, seems like now it is my time to get the MF malfunction. Still, I fear the day this camera will die on me. The character the images have, from the amazing pairing of lens and sensor married together, leave nothing more for me to desire. YET, if I think about it, if I'd be faced with buying a replacement, i think I wouldn't even look towards rx1riii. The price it holds seems outrageous, for what it is now.
…or get an A7CR & mini 40mm f/2.5 G lens and never change the lens. That’s what I have. It’s almost as compact as the RX1 and has more features than I’ll ever use at my age.
I can't say for sure about the 35mm Samyang but I wasn't impressed with their other wider angle lens, though this was a few years ago. I much preferred the compact sony G lenses made for the A7c series.
Creo que solo se conseguira si canales como este siguen informando apartados de la demagogia y mostrando realidades fuera de la ideología y mas sobre la economia. Asi que seguid asi y para los que lean este comentario, compartir a estos chicos que estais haciendo una muy buena labor
But, but, the manufacturers tell us it will make our images better or art. And old grey haired guys can tell you, like corvettes , a high mp camera will not only make your ... longer, it makes it harder. And chicks, what did the salesman tell Arnold in True Lies, the vette makes them ... Just tell a woman you have a 100 mp "crop medium format" camera and we won't see you for days. Not. Kidding aside, when I do need 46 mp is for the large format printer. Same with my 6 7 negative. I ask amateurs if they print, and the answer is virtually never. Not even 11x14 which 12 or 24 mp can easily do. 3 mp for a cell phone 8 for 4k monitor? Talk about overkill with 46mp. Same for on line.
i dont like how most mirrorless cameras feel in the hand, also dslrs are still way better than good enough fornhobby photography and also the price is very low in comparisson
Same is true for anything made specifically for disabled people -hugely expensive just because it is specifically for disability needs. We are often forced to work out other, cheaper ways of meeting the same needs.
I think this camera is really interesting but with a updated version it should have more megapixels and slightly more zoom. The lens can be 24-85mm equivalent instead of 75mm. Which is slightly nicer I think. Or maybe even slightly more zoom. And maybe even a slightly nicer aperture in the lens. But let's see what Panasonic will do 😁
A "good" photo is a good photo and there have been millions of pictures taken over the years and there is only a handful that become famous. Yes, it is true that older images have some charm but looking back just because you find a bad image in a photobook doesn't mean it is good. So, one should first learn the trait and after that no amount of unwarranted criticism will influence you.
I use Pentax K-1 with HD Pentax-D FA 28-105mm F3.5-5.6 ED DC WR most of the time. Both camera and the lens are weather sealed. I don’t see myself getting new camera (probably new lens) for another 6-7 years.
I like your thoughts that evolution for consumer cameras has come to an end, and that these new features on more expensive cameras cater more to professionals. I also like that the updates on resolutions, and AI tech are also for professionals. Its nice that we're going back to basics, and enjoying technology that isnt super expensive, technical, and just does the trick to capturing memories
