Does anyone know what the inspiration of this song is and how it came to be?? Those not old enough to know, let me fill you in on what inspired it and killed Sarah’s career after she revealed it. Not sure if “Adia” was the real life best friend’s name of Sarah’s or not? But, Sarah’s life long bestie had a hubby that Sarah had an affair with. How did Sarah’s bestie handle the betrayal? She killed herself. So, what did Sarah do? She wrote this very beautiful yet justifying sad song of her lustful ways. That turned out to be the cause of the suicide of her so called best friend. She started the “Lilith fair” right? Do some research about who “Lilith” was and it’ll make sense who Sarah M truly is! A cold hearted…
To me this song is about a girl/ woman failing or hurting and disappointing a girl/ woman name Adia and she feels so bad about or whatever this song means "Adia" is not an easy song to listen to and not get a little bit emotional and choked up.
Been looking for this song for years since I grew up listening to it on the radio as a kid. Didn’t remember the lyrics but finally found it today! Gotta say this song is beautiful! It just me makes feel like everything is going to be okay no matter how bad things are at the moment. If you are reading this and are going through something, keep your head up! You’ll weather this storm! It can’t rain all the time.
Adia, I do believe I failed you Adia, I know I've let you down Don't you know I tried so hard To love you in my way It's easy, let it go Adia, I'm empty since you left me Trying to find a way to carry on I search myself and everyone To see where we went wrong There's no one left to finger There's no one here to blame There's no one left to talk to, honey And there ain't no one to buy our innocence 'Cause we are born innocent Believe me, Adia, we are still innocent It's easy, we all falter Does it matter? Adia, I thought that we could make it I know I can't change the way you feel I leave you with your misery A friend who won't betray I pull you from your tower I take away your pain And show you all the beauty you possess If you'd only let yourself believe That we are born innocent Believe me, Adia, we are still innocent It's easy, we all falter Does it matter? 'Cause we are born innocent Believe me, Adia, we are still innocent It's easy, we all falter Does it matter? Believe me, Adia, we are still innocent 'Cause we are born innocent Believe me, Adia, we are still innocent It's easy, we all falter Does it matter?
This was suppose to be my daddy/daughter dance song (I grew up learning how to dance with my drunk father to this very song), but I wasn't good enough to make either man happy. How appropriate that the song I equate with the love of a man is the song about innocence and failing to keep one happy. To everyone: love yourself and find joy and contentment within your own self before bothering with anyone else. Keep your Innocence as long as possible for you will never get it back.
This song has always reminded me of my brother and I who had our innocence stolen as small children by predators. Now in our mid sixties, it is hard for him to get past our past and it has fractured us as siblings and when he looks at me, he is reminded of the trauma we both endured and it is too uncomfortable for him. I want to share this song with him, but he has shut me out. Perhaps I will share it with my friends and they can share it with him.

@WHENDOESITEND? Huh, trying to bring someone down because they see the world different than you. I would call you a dumb person, but that would put me on your level.
@WHENDOESITEND? No, you didn't understand my comment at all and you just proved it. I was impressed she could have emotions about something that doesn't exist with such a passion that we as the listeners could feel the passion for it too. So, now can we let this conversation die or will you justify yourself more?
@WHENDOESITEND? Adia doesn't exist, she just wanted a three-syllable word. Shes singing her best song to and about nothing." Is the comment I was reffering to...
@WHENDOESITEND? I'm almost 40, I like the song it moves me. And i'm impressed her muse doesn't exist and yet she had the same effect. Sorry for my initial comment not being as clear as it could have been.
