I make cozy art vlogs about my comics and writing projects.
My name is Jasmin and I'm an illustrator based in California, USA. I make vlogs and tutorials about my creative processes making illustrations and drawing/writing comics. I also share tips, breakdowns/process videos, and travels.
I'm currently drawing a medieval comic called "Girl-Knight," you can read it here: www.webtoons.com/en/challenge/girl-knight/list?title_no=843357
Stunning work!!! The autumn forest and sky are so on point you can smell the air and I 100% agree on the angle you went with for Alys's head <3 Made me super inspired to draw and to go read Girl Knight!! (also I'm very sorry to even mention it and maybe you're aware but just wanted to warn you to be careful with showing the street outside your windows 😭)
One question I have about making art into a book, what is the legal and financial aspects of it that you’d advise others to be ready for if they want to attempt it?
I just want to share you that there is always love, hope, forgiveness of sins and eternal life in Jesus. If you come to Him with a sincere and humble repented heart, He can save you and forgive you and give you abundance of joy, love and peace and eternal life. Believe in Jesus: He is The Son of God, He died for our sins and He rose from the dead, Believe in Jesus. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” -John 3:16 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” -Romans 10:9 Repent and Believe in Jesus.
I love watching creators create! (Since I'm usually working while they are.) So I'm curious, do you read other comics currently? Do you have a favorite?
Loving these videos, every time one pops up in my feed its a treat! Comic process videos are always interesting to watch and seeing it all come together is so satisfying, although for us theres no stress involved 😅 Definitely made the right decision on the cover illustration.
Loved the video vibe! It's like I'm doing my stuff in the same room w a friend who sometimes tells me insteresting things and I can look up and see them making progress on their project. A lovely feeling if you ask me.
My literary agent is showing it to publishers right now. If one of them buys it, it may be available at bookstores in a few years. If not, I will self-publish--a graphic novel will be available either way, but wish me luck that it’s taken up by a publisher 😊🤞
what if you somehow combined both, she is laying down with her sword, but up in the sky we see the two of them back to back, as if she’s thinking about them or it’s on her mind? it’s train of thought, and tells a story
That’s worth considering, I’d just be afraid that that’s a lot going on for a cover and hard for a reader to understand. That’s the fun of covers--so many possibilities
This is so cool!!! I didn’t realize just how many deliberate decisions you have to consider when creating comic book art, it’s really interesting to watch. You were spot on about the glance vs the head turn, her final expression really conveys her curiosity about him but doesn’t give her state-of-mind away. Same goes for the cloud, a round shape sort of conveys harmony but the striated clouds really sell the discord that’s well balanced against the harmony of the beautiful fall background. Never gives away what’s to come and I love it! Thanks for showing us that it’s possible to balance art with a day job. Can’t wait for more!
Yes! There's quite a lot that goes into producing a good cover. I'm glad you agree about the head positioning, that's so cool that I'm being understood ah! Thanks so much for watching and for taking the time to comment, feels super validating, I really appreciate it.
There is a bustling market of 2nd hand ergonomic chairs- I got a Hermann Miller in perfect shape for a couple hundred bucks. It has been fantastic (along with a limbar cushion and a homemade foot stool).
Hi! The tablet I'm using is the Wacom Cintiq. It's really popular. I've actually downgraded to a simple wacom intuos tablet for my neck. Having to look down at the tablet's screen was giving me neck pain. Going back to a simple drawing tablet allows me to keep my head up as I look at a computer screen instead. It's up to you what you prefer (a tablet with it's own screen or not). The tablets with a screen are much more expensive tho!
