Yeah he didn't drop smokes until right before recording the last Audio Slave album. He was about 42 years old.

@@callofthewintermoon91 wow, and his voice was still so wonderful. I saw a video of him in Vegas on his Euphoria Mourning tour and h was smoking on stage like the rat pack guys. I was surprised about that.

@@callofthewintermoon91 That's good to know, I guess that also explains why his very high range became raspier and raspier with time till the Soundgarden reunion, because smoking often makes the head voice raspier, sometimes too much. But he kept his voice very very well considering how he used to sing and that

Conspiracy Theorista then you clearly havent heard him SING or heard any of the songs he WROTE☺The looks might have drawn people in and grab your attention but his talent made people come back for more and actually listen to what he hade to say.His lyrics &choice of words and amazing vocals...he was blessed and it was not just his looks.Thats shallow and only on the surface but he was deep and wise beyond his years.Even as a middle aged man his looks may have gotten older but he aged gracefully and his beauty wasnt skin deep it were the deeper layers within..he was humble and kind and didnt give anything about fame and fortune.In his era he was a poet amongst mutes.He just wanted peace of mind and write and preform good songs.And he still and will allways be and remain BLESSED in the eyes of many😉You dont have to have allot of money to be rich..he hade 3 children allso so he was BLESSED.Like allso his kids are because he will allways be their Dad instead of the famous rock legend.He made sure they were his priority in life and he usnt to blame for getting sick with depression because its a sickness.You wouldnt blame a cancerpatient..so cant blame someone with innerdemons that got the best of him in the end.Its just sad but still he will allways be BLESSED😊

Tararyze 11 Aaahh you were there right?Noo? I thought so...but if YOU did any research you would know he wrote about death ..suicide...several times from way back plus 20 years! You would know that he hung himself not in 1 but a few videos before his death.You would know that the song -Like a stone- was about the longing to die. Im sorry to burst your bubble but if you hade done some research his kids were the most important thing on earth for him and family life not fame and fortune (and sure not his crazy fans) as they should be might i add.And he would not allow any of your conspiracy theory fanatics spuw hatred online about the mother of his 2 children...(yes i know he hade 3 but the first was with another woman his former manager). You would know he battled addiction for a long time and even if it wasnt heroin that killed his first wifes brother the addiction made her want to divorce him.SO dont come for the memory of Chris Cornell he was and is verry dear to many.So leave your conspiracy theories at the door...we dont need it over here.We just come to mourn him and hear him speak and sing just let him rest in peace! You guys just sound crazy sometimes...omg buzz off..you were not there that dreadfull day! Noone knows what happend but if it walks like a duck..well you get the picture (i hope).

@@theend1199 Then why doesn't the suicide theory add up???
@rogerm1343

He had extreme anxiety. He took medication that did a decent job. The night he died, he called his wife and told her he was especially anxious after a show. He said he was going to take a second pill of the medication. This scared his wife, because while the correct dose of the medication worked pretty well, taking more could make someone suicidal. That is a common danger with anxiety or depression medication. They have narrow risk tolerance. So, he took a second and ended up taking his own life within about two hours of speaking on the phone to his wife. She had alerted his bodyguard, who got to him very soon after he had died. It is tragic, but very human. He did not wake up suicidal. He simply took one too many of a helpful medication. People who turn his end into a conspiracy, are doing him a disservice. The conspiracy theory states that children eating aliens have infiltrated the human population. And Chris knew if this. That is obviously insane. Please let this incredible human being rest in peace.

Seattle's notorious ambivalence towards the mainstream success in the 1990s shines through here. That's one thing I always liked about that city. Everybody kept themselves grounded and resisted buying into the hype, although there is a little bit of provincialism to it as well.
