Nye Holman State Forest looks like a great place to stretch your legs and let out some energy on a road trip. Beautiful area down by the river. We haven't visited Rhode Island and Connecticut yet. Glad to hear there is some gorgeous scenery along the way in the rural areas. We are trying to get to all 50 states so we will get to these states! That is a nice welcome center. We will keep your dad and mom and you and your whole family in our prayers. It is very difficult to see our parents grow older and see their health decline. We are going through it with our parents now. It is no fun. I am glad you were able to go spend some time with them and that Teddy was able to spend some time with them. Praying for peace and comfort in the days to come for all involved.
My parents passed away when I was 12 and 29. I never had to go through that process of seeing them “deteriorate”. It must be so hard. I’m sure it is both a blessing getting to say goodbye. But also hard to be waiting for the inevitable ❤️ Thank you for sharing your thoughts on what you want your child to witness. You are talking to him about it. Teaching him about the circle of life. I’m sure that Teddy will be ready for “loving his grandpa in another way” ❤️ One thing is if he saw it actually happening. I think that it would be harder for him to witness your reaction. To see his protector completely devastated on the spot. I’m confident that you as a family will get through this, with all the crying, the talks about good and bad memories and all the other stuff a grieving process requires. Teddy will learn to cope with sorrow (sorrow is just live that has become homeless for a while) Thank you for being real ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
It is great that when you asked Teddy what was his favorite thing about Maine. In the past he would say all of it. Now he was able to pick one thing. Real growth. So proud of you both.
I got the sunpass plus last year when I went to Mass & N H. I ended up paying 2 or 3 dollars in tolls. Otherwise the rental car company charges $14 a day, which would have cost me around $100.
I went camping in Maine in July in 1979 in a campground near the beach. We were in a tent. We froze at night and the water was freezing. We laughed all night One of us did jump into the ocean to try it out.
We always enjoy visiting old historical forts. This is such a cool look at life in the area almost 300 years ago now. Frontier living definitely seems like it was a difficult struggle. Thanks for sharing Fort Halifax with us. Teddy's first historical tour was a success!
Great fun to see how home schooling is done. I checked and only 1779 kids are homeschooled in Denmark at the moment. But the numbers are rising. School is not for all kids or all families. Education can be done in so many ways😊😊

I also think that our country sadly has a lot currently wrong with it in regards to public or even private schools that there are so many reasons why many are going towards home education. I love my country personally but honestly we’re such a “hot mess” right now that it’s actually quite embarrassing. The schools here in Maine where we grew up are an extremely far cry from what they are now. There’s just some really scary things happening in them. If not scary, then there’s the issue of just not being actually taught anything, just babysat. So those are my main reasons why I chose to homeschool, safety and that my child would get bored and then eventually never actually learn. It’s also a huge plus that I can add in real life situations and travel to supplement book learning.
I loved homeschooling my 3 boys. We had great adventures, historical site visits and so much enrichment of real life. I still virtually teach a few kiddos each week. Enjoy the journey.

That pretzel looked super yummy! Seems like a great place ! So wonderful how helpful they were to you! Like you said those prices do seem on the norm for places like that. Not that it’s not pricey but those are the prices we are used to, for the oat milk ice coffee I’ve been getting at dunkin has been almost 6 for a medium. I would love to try this place! Your coffee sounded really good!
