Hi mam can you please help me in giving few tips about Montessorians to parents who don't know about Montessori at all. They might expect their child's growth with the conventional method. How to convince them about this😊
Hi Asha - that's for watching Montessori education focuses on fostering a child's natural curiosity and independence through hands-on learning and self-directed activities. Unlike conventional methods, Montessori classrooms offer a child-centered approach with mixed-age groups, encouraging collaboration and respect. This method helps children develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a love for learning. To convince parents, highlight the benefits of nurturing their child's unique potential and the development of lifelong skills in a supportive and structured environment.

It’s interesting how every training center (AMS, AMI, CMI) teaches just a little bit different one from another and yet so often we think that our way is the “right way”. Due to my personal bias I prefer the language I was trained to use. “Please say ‘blue’”, instead of “Can you say blue?”, “What is this?” Instead of “Can I ask you to tell me what this is?” It is more clear and concise and less confusing . I was also trained to say “thank you” to the child after each time they respond to my request. I thank the child rather than saying what kind of job they’ve done or if they’ve gotten it right. I appreciate the effort put into these training videos. Some of the advice is sure to help teachers and parents.
I agree, it's fascinating how AMS, AMI, and CMI each have their own unique approaches. Your preference for using clear and concise language, like "Please say 'blue'" instead of "Can you say blue?" makes a lot of sense-it can definitely be less confusing for children. I also think thanking children for their responses rather than evaluating their performance aligns well with the Montessori principle of respecting the child’s effort. These training videos indeed provide valuable insights that can be beneficial for both teachers and parents. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Aloha! Very helpful videos for me as a new teacher in-training. Thank you! Just a quick question though. What would you say be the ratio between student and teacher to have in a montessori class room esp when the kids are doing their activities? Thank you for your time! 😊
Thanks for watching our videos. Montessori is all about independence so we do not tend to have a high student-teacher ratio. We would have a ratio of 20:1 - with one TA. I know this sounds odd to many... but think about it this way. The more adults we have in a classroom, the more the children depend on them. We want the children to do things for themselves (as much as possible). Our job is to guide them.
I do not like this approach! This is not teaching the the skills they need for school or life! I laugh but find this very alarming. None of this is preparing them for the work environment unless they are going to be a homemaker or work in food services.! LOL This does not prepare children for real life in the workforce! And todays children are much smarter than this! I've seen a 3 year old who has mastered a tablet. Montessori schools need to step in the 21st century! This approach seems to focuses mainly on concrete practical skills that children develop individually (in isolation). While these skills are important, imaginative and collaborative play is equally as important to develop the 21st-century skills children need now more than ever. One limitation of this method is that it is not well-suited to all children. Because the approach is based on the idea that children are innately curious and motivated to learn. It may not be effective for children who are shy, struggling or who have special needs. These children may require more structured and individualized instruction in order to be successful.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and concerns. It's clear you're passionate about ensuring children are well-prepared for their future endeavors. While the Montessori approach does emphasize practical skills, it also encourages children to explore and learn collaboratively. Through activities like group projects and peer interaction, children have opportunities to develop social skills, teamwork, and empathy. Additionally, the individualized nature of Montessori education allows children to progress at their own pace, fostering a sense of confidence and independence that can benefit them both academically and socially. Montessori education recognizes the value of imaginative play in child development. Activities such as pretend play and storytelling are often incorporated into the curriculum to stimulate creativity and critical thinking. Moreover, Montessori classrooms are designed to promote collaboration among students, with mixed-age groups encouraging peer learning and mentorship. By fostering a balance between structured activities and open-ended exploration, Montessori education equips children with the skills they need to thrive in the 21st century. While Montessori education may not be a perfect fit for every child, its adaptable nature allows for individualized support and accommodation. Montessori educators undergo extensive training to recognize and address the diverse needs of their students, ensuring that every child receives the necessary guidance and assistance to succeed. Additionally, the Montessori philosophy emphasizes respect for each child's unique learning style and pace, creating a supportive environment where all children can thrive, regardless of their abilities or challenges. In summary, while it's important to acknowledge the concerns raised, Montessori education offers a holistic approach to learning that nurtures children's intellectual, social, and emotional development. By providing a balance of practical skills, imaginative play, and individualized support, Montessori schools prepare children for success in both school and life, fostering a lifelong love of learning along the way. Thank you for engaging in this discussion.

Thank you so much for making these videos. I’m currently just sat down for my written exam for my masters and primary Montessori. Our teacher left halfway through our intensive training in the summer and my understanding of the language premium was very limited. Your videos really helped me better understand the language curriculum as a whole I plan to use your videos in the future to aid in my understanding
I'm glad the videos have been helpful for you during your Montessori training, especially with understanding the language curriculum. It's tough when a teacher has to leave mid-training, but I'm happy the videos could fill in some gaps for you. Language learning is crucial in Montessori, and getting a handle on it can really boost your teaching effectiveness. As you move forward in your studies, remember you have plenty of resources available. Whether it's revisiting these videos or exploring other materials, keep that learning momentum going. Good luck with your exam and your future teaching journey in Montessori! If you have any questions or need more help, feel free to reach out.
Dealing with sibling squabbles as a single parent can be tough, but there are ways to handle them in a Montessori-inspired manner that promotes harmony and teaches important life skills. One approach is to encourage open communication and problem-solving. Maybe you could gather your kids for a chat when things calm down, giving each one a chance to share how they feel. For example, if they're arguing over a toy, you might say, "Let's all take turns explaining why we want to play with the toy." This helps them learn to express themselves respectfully and understand each other's perspectives. Then, you can guide them to brainstorm solutions together. Encourage them to come up with ideas like taking turns with the toy or finding a different activity they can enjoy together. You could suggest, "What do you think about playing a game together instead?" This empowers them to find solutions that work for everyone, teaching cooperation and problem-solving along the way. Finally, remember to praise them when they handle conflicts peacefully. Acknowledge their efforts to communicate calmly and work together, like saying, "I'm proud of how you talked it out and found a solution together." Positive reinforcement helps reinforce good behavior and encourages them to continue using these skills in the future. By approaching sibling conflicts in this way, you're not only addressing the immediate issue but also laying the foundation for strong communication, empathy, and cooperation in your family.
I notice there’s more space on one side of the letter than the other. Why is that? Is it to have a place to hold onto with the hand that is not tracing? If that is so, should there be a version for both left and right handed children?
Hi! Firstly - thanks for watching our videos. You have a great question. You are correct, it's for children to hold the sandpaper letter in place. It would be a great idea to make a set for left-handed children, unfortunately, I do not know of anyone who has made a set like this
