This has a hydraulic issue thats why the have to crash land the helicopter its impossible to control the aircraft to lamd with out the hydraulic system
Those blades are close to the speed of sound and just one leaf stuck on the tip is enough to change the usual sound of the rotor disk. If you add de-laminating in the case of a rip due to a harder branch then it’s not only the change in sound the pilot needs to worry about …
If you look really close you can see $100 bills flying out the window right after he hit the tree, and they continue to fly at a much faster rate all the way until he landed.
but on a scale of 1 to Trevor Jacob i give this guy a 2. so not bad overall. He recovered well and put it down safe. Didn't try to burn down a nature preserve. Didn't hide any evidence. people probably still like him as a person. all in all hes doing pretty well on my arbitrary rating system.
That great big open field and he had to go land next to a tree? I reailize he could not see with the nose so high, but when you shoot for a landing touchdown spot, he should have shot for the center of the landing area, why did he do this? I'm shure he's asking himself the same question!
There was a pickup of a special forces team , the lead pilot I believe in a flight of three ,couldn’t see through the bamboo , he just lowered down and chopped the bamboo down , made more then one trip , all personal made it back to base , wounded and all ,rotor blades had lost a couple ft I believe , it’s been awhile since I read the report
it's about the delicate balance between getting out in a hurry alone in a field and waiting on help, and getting to a facility with assistance available immediately. Really depends on the situation and the aircraft's danger.
It has very little to do with what the other two said and almost everything to do with the fact that this is freaking Southern Louisiana and Houma is located right in the middle of a swamp
2 reasons I can think of, 1) they were already close to/over the airport so why not just land there? And 2) idk what the emergency procedures are for this helicopter but it may have been something where they didn’t need to land immediately and could’ve flown to an airport that close.
@@Darthvader-oc5tp or you could have picked option 3 which is I already pointed out this airport is in a swamp he has no option to land anywhere else but right at the airport. This is helicopter used to transport crews back and forth to the oil rigs offshore he is definitely not going to choose ditching in the water unless he absolutely has no choice.
Are there commercial jigs you can put the control rods in? If not, where types of set up methods are commonly used to secure the control rod to take accurate measurements?
Stunning capture! May I feature this helicopter mishap in one of my next episodes? Of course with a link back to your original video. All the best to you!
