Thanks for your comment! I booked a Japanese style room. If it is a twin, they also have bunk bed type rooms. The Japanese style room is for 1~2 people, so I think it can be used by two! This hotel also has capsule type rooms, but the Japanese style room was a private room type.
when the other train was detaching, did you get out of the train? is that the Otsuki station? do we have to go out to transfer trains even if we purchased direct tickets from shinjuku to kawaguchiko? thank you!
Thanks for your comment! I wanted to take this video, so I went outside. I think it was Otsuki station. If you buy a ticket to Kawaguchiko Station, you do not need to get off or change trains on the way.
So sorry for the late reply. Thanks for your comment! The seat D line should be the best and C would be better for viewing. The fuji excursion makes a big curves so the view from seat A line would be good at the end.
We have just purchased the tickets 1 month ahead of our travel date. Wah really popular, 7.30am is fully booked on a weekend! We booked seat C and D too.
Thanks for your comment! In this video, I bought a ticket in Shinjuku and took the Fuji Excursion to Kawaguchiko Station( through Otsuki station). You can buy the tickets online or at the station counter at any major station in Tokyo. You can go from Otsuki Station to Kawaguchiko Station without using the train in this video, Fuji Excursion. It is a normal train. I think the fee is about 1,200 yen (one way). If you are boarding from a station before Otsuki Station, it is recommended that you purchase tickets to Kawaguchiko first. you can also buy tickets at Otsuki Station, but I am not sure if there are seats available. I would be happy if it would be helpful. Have a nice trip.
@@sugoitraveljapan Hi thanks for the fast response :) Yeah I am intending to take the Fuji Excursion through to Kawaguchiko.Did you use JR pass? Because my understanding is that JR pass only cover from Shinjuku to Otsuki. And Otsuki onwards will require another fare even if I am on Fuji Excursion train.
Ah i see! I am japanese so i can't buy jr pass unfortunately haha but i guess you can get the train first and pay extra fee afterwards when you arrive at kawaguchiko station. If you want to take reserved seat, you should go the jr ticket spot called "midori no madoguchi" and show the jr pass and pay the extra fee before boarding. This is official website just says a separate fare is required so it should be fine if you don't have the reservation. (These days tourists are very increasing so i recommend the reservation anyway) www.jreast.co.jp/hachioji/fuji_excursion/en/#fuji_howto Any questions if you want to know more
Thank you for your comment! If you are taking the Fuji excursion, you do not need to transfer at Otsuki Station. Other trains also run on the same route as the Fuji excursion. If you want to go further than Otsuki Station on another train, you may need to transfer. I hope this helps!
Thank you for your comment! There are several types of rooms and the price varies depending on the type of room. It also depends on the location. A private room with key with a 12-18 hour stay plan at the store in this video costs 35~50 Canadian dollars per night. I think You should expect about $50 Canadian. Have a nice trip!
How/Where can I get the Fuji Excursion Limited Express train, round trip w/out purchasing the JR pass since I won't visit other cities in Japan; I'll only be in Tokyo for 4 days. Pls advise...thanks!
Thank you for your comment! If you do not have a jr pass, you can purchase the ticket at locations in JR stations called "Midori-no-Madoguchi". Midori-no-Madoguchi" are located at large JR stations, such as Shinjuku and Shibuya stations. Ask station staff for the location, and they will tell you right away. At the Midori-no-Madoguchi, station staff will issue tickets, so it is best to tell the station staff, "I would like a ticket for the Fuji Excursion, please. In Japanese, it is called "Fuji-Kai-yu. It seems that you can only stay in Tokyo for four days. Fuji Excursion seems to be popular among foreigners these days. If you come to Tokyo, please go to the Midori-no-madoguchi (ticket office) and make a reservation as soon as possible. Have a nice trip. If you have any questions, please ask anything. I will support you.
Please refer to (I don't read all contents but they should be useful for you to find the ticket) welcome2.tokyo/travel-tips/transportation/what-is-the-midori-no-madoguchi/ gowithguide.com/blog/how-to-book-fuji-excursion-4138
I didn't get JR pass, but bought Tokyo wide pass, which is valid for 3Days. We used the pass to reserve for our seats via the JR website, as I heard that it can get quite difficult to secure a seat as the train is really popular.
Thanks for your comment! I'm glad to hear from you. It is called sukiya which is a big gyudon(beef bowl) chain. You can find it in many places of Japan! Click here to check the locations. www.sukiya.jp/en/locations/ The breakfast in the video is only for breakfast(should be ordered by 10o'clock ) and the name is "mazenokke teishoku". I hope you will have it! Enjoy!
Thanks for your comment! Yes it was seat D(window side). D is the best and C would be good as well. As I recall, seat A gives a better view of Mt. Fuji near the terminal station, but seat D is still better for a longer view of Mt.Fuji!
Hi! Thanks for the video. Does the Fuji Excursion train stop at Shimoyoshida? Or do you have to change to a different train at Otsuki? Different websites say different things!
Thanks for watching the video. I am also glad that you are interested in Japan. I believe all Fuji excursions stop at Shimoyoshida station after boarding the train from Shinjuku station. Here is the official website. www.jreast.co.jp/hachioji/fuji_excursion/en/ The JR Pass, which only foreigners can buy, only allows you to ride to Otsuki Station. From Otsuki station, you need to pay an extra fare. However, I don't think you need to get off the train once (it is Japan, so you can manage by talking to the train station staff. hahahaha The JR Pass is this. japanrailpass.net/en/about_jrp.html Please keep in mind that there are some trains that are similar to the Fuji Kaito route but are not Fuji Kaito. Feel free to comment if you have any questions!
@@sugoitraveljapan Thanks so much for your speedy and helpful response! We have a JR pass so will use that for the first part of the trip and pay the rest prior to boarding at Shinjuku. We might try to reserve seats as well to avoid disappointment. When did you take this journey?
Thank you very much! I recommend that you buy tickets in advance at Shinjuku station. There is a place called Midori-no-Madoguchi(tickets window) at JR stations, so please buy your tickets there. It is crowded these days due to the increase in the number of tourists, so please be sure to allow plenty of time for purchase. This video was taken at the end of June! Fuji is beautiful in summer!
Thanks for your comment! The hostel has two types of rooms: capsule type where you stay with other guests and fully private rooms. The fully private rooms have two beds. If you are staying alone, the capsule type is better, but if you are concerned about the noise of other guests, you may consider other options.
Nozomi" is excluded, but "Hikari" and "Kodama" running on the same route are covered by JP Pass. Hikari" and "Kodama" are bullet trains that run slower than "Nozomi".
You know a lot! Yes, there are Japanese people with the same name! Kodama is often used as a surname, and Hikari and Nozomi are mostly used as female first names!
The food looked very delicious, and the hotel was in a perfect location for enjoying a day trip into Tokyo. I think the time spent in line was worth just for the smell of all that goodness. Thank you for the recommendation, I depend on your experience to help me make sure that I get the best out of a short visit!
Thank you for your comment. I am very glad! Yes, I enjoyed seeing things around me while waiting in line. (It was a little too cold for me that day tho haha). I'll keep making videos that might be helpful when you come to Japan!
Thanks for your comment! You do not have to take off your clothes every time. The indoor clothes are just for sleeping. You can put your bag in a locker with a key!
If you plan to visit other areas as well, you can buy a JR RAIL PASS, which only foreigners can buy, and buy a seat from Otsuki Station on the day.(i mean JR PASS is up to Otsuki station. Sorry for super complicated. Some of my friends bought it that way so it should be fine.) japanrailpass.net/en/about_jrp.html Alternatively, you can also buy it here. www.eki-net.com/en/jreast-train-reservation/reserve/wb/RouteSearchConditionInputByStation/Index For stations, search for Shinjuku Station to Kawaguchiko Station. Choose the train that says Fuji Excursion, as there are trains with a similar route but not Fuji Excursion. There are still seats available, so you might be able to buy one on the spot by asking a JR staff member at a JR Midori-no-madoguchi (many large stations have them) on the day you arrive in Japan. Thanks for your interest! Feel free to ask anything!
Hey! it was a great video and a great year! very interesting. I'm curious - why don't they drink ramen noodle broth? Is it because it is very oily and unhealthy? Happy New Year!🥰💝🌲
Thanks for the comment! And Happy New Year from Japan(i don't know where you are but hello from 2023)! Ramen soup is too salty and too oily. It makes you sick! Hahaha But it depends on the type of ramen.
