Indian women are horrible to Indian women and its alarmig that we don't talk about it. mothers of rapists support them to the end which is messed up! mother in law mis-treating daughter-inlaw and vice versa is also messed up. then there is the problem of fake rape cases. imagine how quick real cases would have concluded if it werent for the fact that a large chunck of rape cases filed are false ones!

They truly do not need to change though. The issue here is gender based violence. Even a girl who dresses conservatively and works a highly reputable job can be targeted, then how can anyone assure that a girl/woman would be safe by adhering to those same standards?

This is worth diving much deeper. But I have a question. Calling someone behen... Or madar... Is wrong, i accept. But what about the context and intension? We joke around with our friends using these. We should stop it? Why? Because we know we are using it in a sarcastic way with our friends only, not strangers. We don't mean it literally. Intention and context doesn't matter if we are using slur words? All are bad and shouldn't be used ? Btw I'm a male rights guy, if i stand with you for your fight, will you stand with US? We are fighting also, against judicial prejudice, biased law enforcement and lack of gender neutral laws

But I wanted to bring all this up so you can potentially be vigilant and notice if you sense your friends actually believing some of the misogynistic or sexist stuff they might say. For me, it’s not about “policing people” but making them aware of what they’re saying and maybe…where it’s coming from. Might it be masking a deeper insecurity or disgruntled feeling? I don’t know. Your idea is good. It will make some positive change, but I don't think it will make any huge impact. I belive it is because of another deep rooted issue with Indian society. Indian society has high power difference, which means people will irrationaly comply to more powerful people. This behaviour has a serious domino effect, causing many serious societal issues such as unchecked power, dehumanisation of the weak, clientelism and patronage, victim blaming and so on. All this makes people more compliant. In other words, we end up tolerating many things which we shouldn't really tolerate(that's why we see people saying how they desensitised to rape news). Rape, murder, caste politics, victim shaming, and so on, are just a part of this. So, what I am trying to say is, we need a society that is less complaint, free to ask as many questions as we want, even to the most powerful persons of this country. Until this becomes a common reality, nothing can really stop rapes. This might sound harsh, but that's the reality.
@jelliclesongs
@jelliclesongs 2 дня назад
Hey. I appreciate this perspective. Definitely agree that we need to influence to most powerful people and also take a “top-down” approach. I know that sounds daunting lmao but I think grassroots organizing has a role here as well.
@naveen1019
@naveen1019 День назад
@@jelliclesongs Hey. Don't you think almost all these problems boil down to some fundamental issue? I remember watching news regarding Kolkata doctor rape and murder, and where people were asking for better lighting in the hospital, better conditions for doctors and why there were so many attempts to hide this case. But the solutions were: Better budget allocation for hospital infrastructure(doesn't happen because of the corruption), more number of seats for medical students(no matter how they try to make work easier for house surgeons and PG students, without enough students to work, workload increases) and banality of crime(just think about the whole cover up and destruction of evidence!). All this happened because we are tolerating these behaviours.

Next episode: How women can permanently end gender-based violence AND LAW EXPLOITATION against men in India. Don't worry if any girl will feel the need to reply to this comment in a negative way, you'll have your answer for "why no man is interested in taking the side of women" cause if we do we get zero representation in mental health laws and less ways to protect ourselves from gender-biased laws. Remember you pathetic demons, only one side can't make a change and our side did our best to bring a positive change but what did we get in return? You know the answer but you won't even accept it. In the end, this video will get a lot of views, the owner of the channel will get their money and words preached. And yes, I'm so fed up with all of you hypocrites that I won't even try to be part of your regime, loud and clear, I don't have any sympathy for you people... And that's coming from a man who stopped his friends or not friends from even saying anything against women. And I'm sure any man will stop, if they look at your deeds objectively. You all are not preachers of harmony and peace in my eyes but preachers of hypocrisy and hate. If you think all of you care so much about women's safety and well being, tell me how many of you know the women SA victims where the culprit was also a woman? Now, I know you pathetic people will deny the existence of female-female SA. If you don't, then have a conversation with yourself in the mirror.

@@jelliclesongs I get you but personally I think this video and the appeal you're making from men is nonsense cause "good men" and "pick-me" men already do those things and the men who spew that nonsensical hatred or violence towards women won't listen to this video or their friends. I know they will not. You have to atleast give a thought to it... And yes it's not like your video is completely useless. It definitely preaches an opinion, maybe you don't realise it, but it does preach a subtle soft-brainwashing element that "women would have been suffering less if good men did these things". Your intentions are good, maybe, but it does have negativity attached to it and looking at the brain functioning of the majority of Indians, be it men or women, they will think that this video is targeting the causal position of men not preaching other men in their surroundings instead of it being a non-causal appeal. Perhaps, this is your intention all along.

Today we're talking about all this, but one year, two years, three years... and We'll all forget that. Bollywood will keep making their typical terrible movies, boys on the sidewalk will resume regularly using social roles of females (mothers, sisters) as slurs, and we as a collective society, at least in the north of India, will resume calling women "Aurat"(A word which does not belong to Indian culture and is truly disgusting in its meaning and implication). And it would be business as usual, until another such case presents itself, thereupon we will again start this fake skit of protests, which we deep down know, we only do because we want to feel good about ourselves because we want to think of ourselves as upstanding citizens. If a link of a filthy chain would be considered filthy, how is it fair to call an individual of a filthy society an upstanding citizen. All men must start feeling guilty of being men, they must first stop distancing themselves of these crimes.We are quick to say not all men, but for a moment, maybe we should stop and say its always men. When I was a kid and my leg accidentally touched the maid who used to work in our house, my mother would scold me and ask me to go to the temple and plead for forgiveness as disrespect of "Kanya" is a sin. "Yatra Naryastu Pujyante Ramante Tatra Devata.. " - This is a chant from "Manusmriti" which means " Where women are worshiped (respected), there divinity prevails and shines! " Until we truly start believing in this wisdom again the culture we inhabit is undeserving of being called Indian.

its been ingrained in their brains since childhood. often as a punishment, primary school teachers make boys sit with girls. girls since childhood are usually told to stay away from boys (they aren't even 10! what are they gonna do?) if a guy defends a girl he's called a simp. the guys who aren't misogynistic are peer pressured into making misogynistic jokes to fit in with their edgy friends and slowly its not a joke anymore and they start meaning everything they say. many people in india literally say 'our country worships women' and yet strip their rights away from them. the man who said 'The day a woman can walk freely on the roads at night, that day we can say that India has achieved independence.' slept next to her naked grand-niece in an 'experiment' that he conducted to test his celibacy. its not that i dont WANT to trust men. i really do. its like russian roulette, i know not all chambers of the revolver are loaded but some are and i dont want to pull the trigger. i dont want to take the risk. i'm not saying trying to change the misogynistic culture in india is impossible and that we should give up, but its really difficult and it will take generations to see a significant effect.

@@Aurora-bv1ys places with strong law and order like the UAE have somewhat lower cases of sexual assault- but also, they have a culture that seemingly is not as supportive of women. On the other hand, places that are sexually liberated and very friendly for women seemingly have higher assault rates but are not "seen" as such. One of the reasons I believe gender-based violence is connotated with Indian culture is because of the sheer numbers. Although most men would not assault a women, but since its so densely populated people are bound to feel scared and rightfully so. Indian Society is gynocentric and progressive, with the MIL being the head of the household in most households, more educated women and women in powdr. But Indian Society is also seemingly unfair to women

Sorry for being a negative minded here but this has been said so many times. To teach men, to educate them about gender violence but nothing happens. Our society works on discrimination of men and women. So, when someone catcalls or harasses a woman that person gets a slap on the wrist and when unfortunately a heinous crime happens then the person who commits it is sent to prison or death sentence. Sadly, nobody really cares about the root cause and solutions as gender discrimination happens on so many levels that its really hard to control. Its a sad reality!

I hear you and I understand that it can feel like a hopeless cycle. 😔 if you feel motivated, kindly see my pinned comment where I included a link to the “Man Enough” round table series. I found it enlightening and uplifting. Also, in the vid description, I included links to orgs doing work in this space. I think you’d enjoy their videos because they feature young men talking about what they’ve learned from gender-related education and workshops. ❤️❤️❤️

The problem with india isn't just mysoginy or patriarchy, it is braminical patriarchy. Aslong as one of them remain the other will also come back. As you said the names of the people working against this who carry their caste identifiers like sharma, panday, dubey, etc I know there is no end to this. A powerful politician is still dealing with courts for talking against the caste system/santan drama. People need to address all of it or it will just come back.

Don't rape women and don't use your religion and caste system to justify it either. Judges have called rapists sanskari just because of their caste. i hope this video goes viral, also one think i would like to add to this as a man the reason most men r*pe is well obviously because of lust but even more than that becuase they want to assert dominance, it is rooted in every man's biology to be dominant and take charge but because we are not animals we dont act completely on instinct thats why society was formed, people who acted like animals were thrown out or killed and only people who followed moral rights remained but obviously since we are not perfect, r*pists still exist and thats why these r*pists r*pe becuase they are unable to control their natural instinct and act like an animal rather than a human now one last thing, this isnt me saying sexual assault is natural,nor am i defending it, its especially not natural in humans, but unfortunately we are also animals at the end of the day, so every man has this instinct which isnt a bad thing and shouldnt be seen as one, NOT ABLE TO CONROL IT is the real problem so some are able to control it and be human and some act like mosterous beast from the past i hope this clarifies somethings, btw im not an expert, im saying all of this purely out of observation, the things i have seen my friends say(although they obviously arent r*pists, like i said the instinct is still there) and the things i have seen actual assaulters saying

I hear you. Yes, people are at so many different levels. The diversity is astounding. And in some ways, I'm not judging the existence of those thoughts or tendencies. The mind can think anything! 😔 Over time (and perhaps lifetimes), the mind can become more and more evolved and have fewer and fewer thoughts that are on the "lower spectrum" - such as taking advantage of others, which is interesting. Similar to saying "Yaar, bas karo" to interrupt a friend's litany of thoughts, a person themself might "witnessing" their lower thoughts more and more - and thereby feel greater freedom. ❤️😔

I really liked your take on this issue. You highlighted many of the core issues in the societal way the men are being wired. Yes, co-operation is required on order to stop this behaviour. But just so telling men to do something about it won't change anything. I will be honest, the first thought in my mind was 'Why should I do anything for females? I have way too many of my own. And none of them ever talks about them. So why should I?'. Believe me, 90% of the men who saw the video thought this first. I can say that as I am just an average no body, who actively avoids women, which is basically 90% of the Indian men. There are no outlets which portray our side of the story, and just keep saying men to 'do these' and make 'safe spaces'. But no one understands or tries to understand the problems of men. How do you expect to expect something from someone when you haven't done anything for them, also when they are in deep shit of their own. Why do you think men flock to Andrew Tate even if he dehumanises women; just because the issues about men he takes up are genuine, although same can't be said about the next parts. So untill men are acknowledged, don't expect men to just be white knights and put their effort when they don't know what to do to feed their stomachs the next morning. Hopefully you people will take this maturely and don't sprout shit like 'yeah, look another tate uni graduate'. Even if you do, you will only waste your time and benefit none. So please be civilized when you read this.

You're tackling gender based violence and inequality with an individual human's life problems, it doesn't colorate at all. The root cause of violence ARE men. Remember it's not just women, it's children and other men too. Let's say you're facing life problems right now, women and children are also facing these problems ALONG with living on edge cuz of the fear of getting attacked every day. The paranoia of not being safe in any environment along side dealing with workplace, house and school matters. This is a big deal you wouldn't understand cuz you haven't experienced it. Your opinions are just as valid, but that doesn't mean you need to counterattack what's happening to women.

@@shwetachate I am not counter attacking anyone. Nor do I oppose any of women's claims, I am only suggesting the solution. Also these are not just my or my peers' problems, these are problems of all those avg Indian males. Men and women have different problems, and neither can understand the others' fully.
