I didn't break the tab but I folded the stylus in two. Slipped as I was trying to put it on. I've ordered a new stylus and once that ridiculous protector comes off it stays off.
way late here. very curious - Thorens TD 240 / 103. Headshell leads - are they comparable with 'standard' replacement cartridge wire leads ( technics / SME type ) - I have 2 , do not see any pins to accept the tiny clips... looks like the wires are inserted directly into a (removable ) little plug that connects to end of tonearm. these H'shells are both expensive ( Thorens $ 75. ) and hard to find.
Hello. I hope you are still active and can answer a question for me. Unfortunately, the manual on Vinyl Engine is only available for already-registered users and I can't access it. For a tracking force of 1.50-1.65 grams, what notches should I use for the anti-skating weight? Thanks again!
Hi again, don´t know if you already have a video with a safe method for cleaning and lubricating the platter bearing and shaft of a Thorens TD 125. It´s an important issue overlooked for countless of users. If you don´t have a video on tihis particular subject, can you make a simple one ?, I think instructions in the service manual are not clear enough. Thanks in advance
Hi, just wanted to say you are great at what you do and because of people like you countless of turntables are still working and don´t end in the trash. Good Job and please keep uploading new videos. Thank you. I hope your channel will grow.
ddarch88, Thank you so much for this video. I have a very early SME 3012 tonearm and I have a same problem with end of tube. It bented very slightly. Your video is much helpfull. 😊
I had one of these many years, exactly the same model as the one featured here, using Rega RB300 tonearm and I think a Goldring cartridge. It was an excellent turntable. I had no troube at all with bearings, suspension, it was a pleasure to listen to. The only mod I did was to lose the felt mat and replace with a cork mat, I don't think it made any difference.
That’s was great! The transport screws were something I didn’t know about and was informed by Tim University of Vinyl to inform seller prior to shipment. With that said I really didn’t know what to do to unlock them until now! Just did it Thank You! Is this Vinyl Nirvana in NH?
hi there. just got a used td165 last night 29 jan. its in ok condition just that the spindle has rust and its quite tough to load a record on the platter. gotta really push down on the record hard. do you have a suggestion to solve the rust issue? can i just use cape cod and buff the rust away? tq
Do you have any tips on how to remove the nut /thick part of the sheath where it attaches to the apparatus that raises and lowers the arm? Do you just have to bend the metal somehow? I mean how to remove the brass part from the silver thing that is in the bottom right hand corner of the screen at 2:38.
So i just ordered the spring kit from you for my 165 but ai dont see a 3rd video to explain how much to tighten the new nuts, as far as tension goes🤷♂️
I replaced a set of new springs and my top plate won't center (line up when viewed from the top). I can twist it by hand and rotate it back square with the plinth and chasis but after it bounces a few times goes back to being off. What could it be ? I don't think it's detrimental to the sound as nothing is contacting and it's floating. it just looks strange
I can’t understand why you should replace or clean metal springs. These are totally out of sight. Replace the foam, this is a good upgrade as the foam is functional for damping the spring vibrations and foam disintegrates after 40+ years.
Dave, do you know why the Music Hall Cruise Control requires the belt to be in the 45 rpm position? I have a turntable that's designed for 33 rpm only, and am wondering if the Cruise Control would be usable with my turntable.
Hi, great videos. Having a few problems. Platter is level, but the left side is springy, while the right hand side of the platter is much stiffer to push down. Any ideas what this could be? If the soft side of the spring are facing the outside, what are the effects?
