@@drakedesjardins6001 Those are a modern interpretation of the stylized “Landau Bars” that once were used to fold the top down on a horse-drawn carriage.
Curtains are a difficult item to restore or replace on one of these cars. The fabric is generally disintegrating after 40-50 years and an exact match to the original material is usually impossible to find. It is common for the curtains to be removed entirely by new owners after the Coach leaves the Funeral Home because they interfere with the “daily driver’s” vision. If the curtains are still present they can be used as patterns for new ones, but if they’re not, well, good luck! The red curtains in this ‘67 are not the original style or color, but I imagine that the owner chose them to add a dash of color to the otherwise “original” interior.

@@matthewtaylor3308 The car is incredibly nice and I'm sure you're right regarding the owner choosing to add a little color, but they are just not the color I would have chosen. I'm sure the original fabric pattern and even thickness are hard to find these days, but I would think somewhere, someone out there has a source for period correct white colored curtains. Id like to know PS> I like your videos and wish you would post more... they are appreciated and I gave you a thumbs up and I subscribed.
She is super awesome, even the stretch wheelbase. I want a 6 or 8 door regular Burban. I had a 69 Chevy panel truck body bucket with the coffiñ rollers regular wheelbase. But as a Burban, van and wagon fan and owner of all 3 old ambulances and hearses are ultra cool especially if they are Chevy or Caddie
Yes that Chevy is extremely cool - that’s one kind of professional vehicle I’ve never owned and would definitely like to own some day - either as an ambulance or a hearse conversion.
@@matthewtaylor3308 definitely very cool to see, thank you for posting the video. I still want a 71-76 Caddie hearse some day preferably a 74 as that's my favorite year Caddie but I have seen a Magnum wagon hearse and I've been told both of my black magnum wagons look like hearses, which isn't a bad thing as I consider wagon looking hearses and ambulances the same as wagons .
I just don't get it... why not buy a hearse and have some class... a pull behind trailer is tacky no matter how "nice" you dress it up.. its still a pull behind trailer.
That’s a valid question… I’m a videographer, not a Funeral Director, but I know quite a few of them - and many Funeral Directors share your attitude. There are several reasons why this product could have a place in a funeral home’s garage. The most obvious is that it can be pulled by a decedent’s favorite car, for example, or by a municipal vehicle if the funeral is for a line-of-duty death. It can be pulled by a motorcycle or even an antique farm tractor. This is one excellent way to personalize the service.

@@matthewtaylor3308You make a very good point there and I never thought of those special situations but then again why cant a hearse just follow a favorite car or a municipal vehicle etc...
From the Mercy website: “Mercy Life Line operates H135P2+ single-pilot instrument flight rules (IFR) capable twin-engine helicopters, the region’s only IFR flight program. These aircraft feature the latest technology for flight under IFR weather conditions for improved safety during inclement weather.”
@@matthewtaylor3308 Sadly, no. It was fun, I could fit most of the cross country team in the back. That was disconcerting for the other team to see us all piling out of a hearse.
Surprised they haven't built one with the engine in the back. That way they can make it massive, and have the weight over the wheels... Should be plenty of room in the back of one of those.
Somehow the modern Chrysler hearses just don’t carry the dignity of the old ones based on the Imperial. Seems like Cadillac and Lincoln today go a lot further in preserving the elegance and feel hearses traditionally have.
That’s true, of course… But Parks Superior, for example, recently uploaded a video of a Lincoln 6-door Limousine built by Federal on a MKT chassis… You can’t convince me that that ugly thing has any “elegance” in it… And Lincoln used to own the limousine market!
