Skidoo needs to bring back the Skandic SUV, which had power, speed, excellent floatation, turned easily, a lower center of gravity, and it snuck through the woods trails easily. The best Skandik ever.

You have the very machine that I am hoping to purchase later this year or next. I want the skandic super wide with the 900 Ace. My wife and I have a remote cabin that we like to go to in the winter and my current wide track snowmaching has it's limitations for breaking trail in the deep virgin powder. I have broke trail before with other guys that have wide tracks and super wides. The super wide was definitely impressive in what it could do.
I like your coffee moka pot. I have been using the same one for years on my backcountry trips. They make good coffee. I also enjoyed your father and friend's bear story. I have been past your cabin and your lake off an on for almost 50 years on my way to and from the river.
That is such a nice-looking machine. I'm picking up the tundra in a couple of days.. doesn't seem to differ much from the scandic.. dropping off my 2022 600r summit.. It wasn't the tool for me. I mostly haul stuff back and forth to my cabin and on low snow conditions and heavy loads the 600r wanted to overheat way too often..
Just watched your final review of the 2023 scandic 900 ace swt...I bought one as well...I agree 100% with your review regarding versatility, power, flexibility etc. And would add that if somrone wanted to limit themselves, they should buy another sled...my son and I went winter camping and got stuck in 4.5 feet of fresh powder..yes stuck! Got out the Winch, pulled out, got stuck again 50ft away ( learning curve at its best), with Winch and SWT drove out and plowed our way onwards never to get stuck again... this was important to me as I am 65 yrs old and simply do not want to lift or dig out ever! The SWT simply did what it was designed to do - get you out there and get you back period! Have fun with yours...oh yes research snow trackers for that steering concern...

That’s awesome ! I absolutely love the willow I grew up on that creek and grayling are so underrated one of my favorite if not the favorite fish to catch on the fly!! When it’s all nice and sunny throw some little foam flies around , cheers :)
so much to do this year (we just moved from tx to ak) that i won't get to do any ice fishing. next year for sure. that should let me get some gear together (i dont have any ice fishing equipment)
Congrats! Looking at preordering a 2024 Skandic which now has the 900 ace turbo as an option. After riding both your Skandic and your dads Expedition 900Turbo would you recommend getting the Turbo or the non-turbo? How does it do at higher speeds on the trail and in powder? (Comparing those two engines would be a cool vid)
I think a turbo is overkill and could run more issues. There is tons more power than you will ever need in a 900 ace. I wouldn’t waste your money on the turbo
Honestly the turbo is fun and I’d say the standard track can maneuver a little better, but the turbo eats gas and needs premium 91! We’ve gone to remote areas up here and my skandic with just the 900 barely uses any gas! For what I like to do haul gear and ice fishing stuff the skandic is perfect for my needs the wide track gives me more cargo storage and packs down trails amazingly and it still has the power and grit too get up and go !
