I recently bought my first boat and the next day wondered into a boat show in old forge NY and fell in love with a 1958 Century Coronado, my father has a 57 Belair show car and the coronado has that same styling that i love about the 50 cars. your story is fantastic and I learned alot thank you! Maybe some day I'll restore a 50s coronado.
The most exciting drag race I was ever in was between two incredibly slow cars. My Mercedes 240D vs. my friend's diesel Ford Escort. His girlfriend acted as flag girl. We lined up. She got between our cars and raised the flag... it dropped. I jumped off the line like a scalded turtle (my 240D was an automatic, so I power-braked in Low before the start.) His Escort was a manual trans so couldn't match my launch. But he had the same horsepower and weighed about 700 pounds less. After several seconds he caught up to me, and then started pulling away with authority. I was giving the Benz all she was worth vainly trying to keep up. My heart was racing and palms sweating and since we'd been at it for so long I knew we were at risk of getting major speeding tickets if we got caught. I checked my speedometer and we were going... 40mph. Hey, the longer the race takes, the more time you get to enjoy it.
I guess the 8 others MT TUGS got destroyed by getting bullets in the gas tank located in between the driver and passenger so they exploded. Very nice restoration. Congrats.
Tristesse ! Cordialement.
Also fun fact: the Soviet jeep clone, the GAZ-67, was created based on a photo of a Bamtam Jeep that the People's Commisar of Medium Machinery showed to the head designer of GAZ and said "I want that thing, you have a month and a half"
Thank you for this beautiful walk around. I had two Trojan cruisers, both had fibreglass hulls, teak decks and mahogany interiors. They were wonderful boats compared to the ugly all-fibreglass ‘blobs’ that are being built today. There are only a few ‘classic ‘ boat builders around today. Cheers.
The tree had died, and was removed for safety reasons. We did everything we could to save it with trimming and root treatments over the past year and a half.
Nice video...I really enjoyed watching it! Thanks for putting it together. I am just finished the 14 year restoration of a 64 17' Chris Craft Super Sport. So many of the challenges you worked through were very familiar to me... the long distance drive to get the boat, the initial disbelief of friends and family, the lack of available parts, rot, obsolete products... In the end the boat has turned out great and is a lot of fun to use. I had a similar experience to yours with SMS, they were great to work with and supplied all my otherwise unobtainable vinyl products. EBay was also a valuable source of parts for me too. The original stern light for my boat are very rare and a big part of the overall aesthetic and I was able to source one through it.
My son is special needs and he really likes classic motorboats 🛥🚤 like that one he says: "They don't make them like that anymore." 😒 But wishes they would with no microprocessors in them just pure mechanics and with character, style, and simplicity.
I wish you could do a whole segment on the tug. What When and why. I can see that selling today as a farm vehicle or small truck line. I have a 46. CJ2. I really enjoy it. But it really doesn’t need to be used as much anymore. I’m happy with the way it looks. I would be afraid to have it look as nice as yours. But all of the parts are still there. 6 volts
