Don't book this. The island is run down. The only food is a tiny bbq buffet. You will be held hostage here until your departure time. I told them I forgot my prescriptions as soon as I got to the island and they refused to take us back. They had the boats to do this. There was another group trying to get back due to illness. The island manager Darren Smith smirked at us as he didn't believe us We had gotten a captain to take us back and halfway back Darren called him on radio and made us take us back. Hostage on the island Shameful operation.
I had the homor of seeing Cecil Rose lead his Miami Jackson High School to the Florida State Title in the Highest Division of High School Athletics in Florida. Michael Thompson (later of Lakers' NBA fame,) was Cecil Rose's teammate on that State Championship Team in the Early 1970s. Four out of the Five Starters on that Florida State Champion Miami Jackson High School Team were from the Bahamas!
This promo and song date back to the early 70s - I was in my early 20s. I’d see this gorgeous billboard on 79th Street Causeway as I drove across from Miami Beach -- just a woman’s colorful flowing skirt hiked up to her thighs with her feet in aquamarine sea and the caption, which I always sang a cappella in my silver blue Skylark… (ooh la la la, ooh la la,) it’s better in the Bahamas. Heard it on the radio all the time. No other marketing promotion has ever made me feel so happy and carefree, or stuck with me through the decades, with the exception of the Tropical Park Racetrack jingle from the 60s. My musician mom sang on it.
My sister's Pirate Wedding was amazing. Cindy did a great job planning the wedding, every detail was worked out. Everything was set advance, as the wedding party all we had to do was dress like a Pirate and get in a taxi, Cindy took care of the rest.
Cindy at Destination Angels was the perfect choice for our pirate wedding, from start to finish she was absolutely excited about the theme and helpful with every detail. As a bride I felt she alleviated the stress that comes with planning a destination wedding, she and her partner made our day absolutely perfect! We couldn't be happier with our pirate wedding. Thank you Cindy!
Thank YOU Angelalynn, my beautiful pirate bride, for the opportunity and wonderful experience. Looking forward to the return of "The Chicago Pirates" to The Bahamas in the not too distant future!
This wedding was very special and so different. It made we want to get married all over again. The wedding planner really knows how to organize a wedding. The bride and groom were well pleased I am sure.
Thank you Monique . . . your kind words mean a lot to me, but you know we are always available to do any special event for you . . . no need to get married again :-)
This is what my husband and I enjoy doing . . . bringing the dreams of our destination couples to reality in one of the most beautiful places in the world . . . The Bahamas! We are grateful to have the help and love of our Artistic Director Christine Pierre - my supportive mother-in-law; my sisters of the Bahamas Bridal Association, especially Deborah Delaney - The Cake Box and Annamae Fox; transportation by Grants Luxury Transportation and Bahamas Coastal Charters. Sweet steel pan music by Anita "Nita" Ellis-Bastian. Thank you to our very own 'pirate' staff Lorna Pierre & Kenny Virgil. I personally have to thank my amazingly supportive husband O'Brian Knowles, Jr . . . the "make it happen / go to" part of this team. We are all grateful to the Ministry of Tourism Wedding and Romance Team for their continued support. Special love and thank you to Mary Dunlop, mother of the bride who trusted us, Destination Angels International, to take care of this important event for her daughter Angelalynn and thank you to the Chicago Pirates: Angelalynn and Matthew Padua for accepting us . . . O'Brian and I, and our entire Destination Angels team wish you a life time of happiness filled with exciting treasure hunts as you continue to discover each other and fall in love with every discovery!
