I'm a lifelong hunter that took my journey into Traditional Archery in 2020. I'm based out of West Virginia and love hunting the mountains this beautiful state has to offer. Join along as I document some of my hunts, scouting trips, and anything related to the Great Outdoors.
You can go many different routes with it, but really it’s not too bad! The most expensive part is an arrow saw. Other than that it’s pretty minimal. My fletching jig cost $40 or so I believe. The other tools like square up tool was like $20 or so.
LUV LUV LUV these ideas!!! I struggle with the comfort of the seat while hunting but think this stand was 30yrs ahead of its time!!! Trying to make this work for me cuz I don’t wanna spend $600 for new fancy machined one.
@@pathfinder5804 glad it helped out! I’m 100% with you on that! These stands are amazing. I did buy a new LWCG .75 for this fall but I’ll always have the Windwalker ready to go as well. It’s nostalgia for me.
Ok, so that was great! However, I am not sitting in a blind in the mountains of WV. Just can’t handle it! I am hiking the mountains and chasing them! To each their own, I guess. I want to take a gobbler with my Omega, have tried several times without a blind and eventually give up and grab the 12 gauge. Of course they give great trad bow opportunities when you’re carrying a 12 gauge! Lol I am normally calling for someone else anyway. Also, great ethics on following the laws. Most would have taken that shot.
Thank you for the kind words! I’m the same as you, I would rather be running the mountains with a shotgun. This farm was a private farm I had in the lowlands over in Virginia. I did end up shooting a gobbler on WV Public Land around my house on April 26th, I got him with my 410 I had set up. Such a blast!
I'm used to the big woods timber as well! I was very fortunate to acquire this private property in the more flat lands. It has since sold, but I'm trying to work on getting permission from the new owners, ya never know!
Great idea on the gear ties foliage.been traditional only for a year and I've got 2 does this past season.ill never hunt any other way. Just found your channel. I subscribed.
Thanks for tuning in! Glad you enjoyed it and congrats on your traditional harvests and getting started! I’ve been Traditional Bowhunting since 2020, it’s so much fun and so rewarding!
@mountainstatetradjournal thank you. Im learning so much about traditional archery from you and others.the only way I'll bowhunt ever again.much respect.
@@georgehardin8452super glad to hear it and glad I could help ya out a bit! If you ever find yourself in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia looking for a hunt don’t hesitate to reach out! Thank you kindly!
This is an awesome set up. Been hunting out of a saddle the last few years and I’ve definitely found some times when a hybrid set up with a really small stand like this would work perfect. I’ll definitely be ordering one and doing some of the same modifications of soft.
I greatly appreciate that! I hope to add more educational stuff like arrow building and maybe some scouting trips this off season! Thanks for tuning in!
These are some 1916 Easton Jazz aluminums I put together. I four fletched them with purple 4” banana cut feathers on some purple tiger stripe wraps. Shooting the standard insert and 190gr Simmons Timber Sharks. They’re also cut to 28” totaling 522gr.
@@mountainstatetradjournal They look good for sure and them Simmons heads are killers . I never used them yet but seen deer shot with them. They don't last long after lung shot with them.
@@wv.bowhunter6094 very cool! I’m up in the eastern panhandle, Berkeley County and also hunt Hardy County a lot. I do a lot of hunting in Virginia where I’m from as well.
That’s a youth Longbow I had built for my stepson by Joe Bennett at Mountaineer Longbows. He right here in West Virginia and does outstanding work! I have an SS Cedar as well that’s basically the adult version of that youth bow you see in this video. Sweet shooting bows for a great price! Joe is a stand up guy as well! He’s on Facebook with a personal account and an account for his bows.
I really like them! I don’t see me swapping from mine! About to add a Kifaru Bane to load my stuff out on the stand in and also have a TX-5 Treestand Suspension System on order too, should be an awesome setup I can take into the mountains pretty far.
I use this stand everyday also similar setup actually. I like the lcwg sticks on it better than the beast sticks I use with it. On the back pack straps yes uncomfortable for sure I have found that a 5-8” piece of pipe insulation right on the angled part of the stand. I put a couple zip ties to hold it on. Helps to keep it from digging in on your shoulder blades. If needed I can send a picture. Helped me a lot, my backpack straps are old terrible ones but that insulation made the difference. Hope that helps and save you money on that system.
Hey things happen he could have jumped the string and it happens so fast At least you got him We’ve all had some kind of experience like that Great job Nice buck to
Questioning if this is your garage and your stand? The way you keep looking over your shoulder like your not supposed to be there. J/k Great video thanks for sharing
This is my first year hunting with trad equipment. I used to hunt with a climber but its almost impossible with the long bows. I'm going to have to go with a set up similar to this.
Hope you get your voice back. I didn’t realize you had added brackets to keep the seat in a fixed position when your transporting it. Thank you for doing this video. 👍
