Loved visiting The Yorktown and Patriot’s Point and Fort Sumpter when visiting South Carolina when I was a kid and teen. Thanks for all you do to keep the museum and exhibits afloat and accessible!
My father in-law was on this ship he was blown off when that first missile went out unfortunately we just laid him to rest yesterday full military honors . RIP sailor 😢
The last radar on the S-2 was the APS-88. I used to work on the S-2G's Tac/Nav computer, the AN/ASN-30A (bench/intermediate level) when I was with VS-24.
My kids and I are Ship museum fans . We were here for a day . Not long enough. If you are to go here I suggest you go for at least a weekend. Also wear comfortable shoes.
I was fire rescueman aboard HMS Hermes in Subic Bay1967 when The Forrestal sailed for home after the fire. We paid our compliments and saluted her as she passed us A most moving and sobering moment and my leading airmen turned to us and said that's why we train train and train again. There but for God go us. We watched that film over and over after. The main lesson hammered into us in those days that unlike the US Navy in the Royal Navy we signed on for 9 years and therefore had more experience. But that didn't help when a Sea Vixen took me out during a land on and crippled me for life.
I love the idea of the captain's tour. But I just find it very interesting how the captain's tour did not come up until after the clamagore was sold for scrap. Whatever cash that was made for that extra tour could have went towards saving the clamagore but instead these money-hungry pricks that own Patriots point decided to let it sit and rust. And you can delete this comment all you want I will not be quiet I will not stop voicing my opinion because I have a right to do so. Do y'all even care about the fact that y'all upset so many veterans that served on that vessel by letting it sit there and rot. And you'll sit and let The laffy and the Yorktown rot away as well and I only find out that y'all are only planning to get the Yorktown into dry dock sometime this year or next year when it's been needing it for years you'll be lucky if it doesn't sink on its way to dry dock. Patriots point is not what it needs to be. The Vietnam exhibit vehicles are not taken care of they look like they're falling apart due to weather erosion. Do y'all even bother to take care of anything that y'all get y'all's hands on or are you just in it for the money?
The Ia Drang valley battle in hindsight foreshadowed the course of the war ending in withdrawal of U.S. military and defeat. LBJ was not a leader or thinker, but a devious political operator and in the end a failure because lying is not a recipe for success, something George W. Bush, another fool never learned. Now Biden has spent 50 years in the public trough lying. What is wrong with the mainstream media allowing liars and fools to get elected and re-elected without reporting their chronic lies?
On the last deployment Russian warship Sailors were welcomed aboard at a Persian Gulf port call. Worden Sailors toured the Russian warship also. It was enjoyable.
It is a great program new nukes get to see a lot of what they have been learning about and the staff sent with them can lend hands own knowledge to the museum team to increase understanding
I'm glad to have visited the USS Clamagore in the past , My Late Father's best friend was stationed on her , who sadly passed away in 2019 , RIP 🇺🇸Gallant Lady and all who served on her ! 🇺🇸
Thank you so much to whom ever uploaded this gem. My dad was in Vietnam from 1971-1973. I just discovered this and has made this tough time a bit better. My father passed away a couple Octobers ago right before his 70th Birthday. I miss him so much. This has made it better. Thank you and welcome home. It’s not the war we knew, but the war you fought for us. You owe us nothing, we owe you everything. Thank you and welcome home. Because of you, I get to live in the greatest country in the world. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
