That little Island off the coast of Girvan is Ailsa Craig. All the curling stones used in major competitions (Winter Olympics, world championships etc) are made from granite mined from the Island. The stones themselves are made in Girvan and shipped around the world.
Good video, Dave. I'm glad you enjoyed your trip north of the border. Just a note for future reference. Kintyre is not an island, it's part of the mainland.😉👍
Totally loved it ❤❤❤ I didn’t think I would to honest , I prefer other types of Aircraft … But you’ve inspired me.. Loved to come with you one day … 😊 very nice trip .
Great video Dave. Sorry I wasn't there. I was at St Michaels on the Wednesday night, but had to head to Leicester on the Thursday to work at the LAA Rally. Hopefully next time.
Nice video, especially seeing a couple of places I used to live from a different perspective, Kirkcudbrightshire (Solway) and the Mull or Kintyre. Just a wee pointer, the Mull of Kintyre is a peninsular, not an island. If it weren't for the spit of land at Tarbert, which is only a couple of km, then Kintyre would have been an island.
Great to see you landing at St Michaels ( my local airfield) im spending lots of time aiming at that field 😀 Looking forward to great adventures in the future, appreciate the effort to bring to our screens 👍
G'day Dave. Towards the end there seemed to be interference. Even the closed captions couldn't pick what was being said. But apart from that, it was a brilliant episode. All these episodes you're doing are showing the best of English scenery. Great stuff. Thank you for sharing. Atb from down here in Nz. 👍
@bryanbadger6841 thanks for the comments, I'm having a bit of trouble with audio at the moment, I've got another camera to try and a new media mod for the current one, hopefully I'll sort it out for the next video
That was brilliant. I flew to St Marys by helicopter 10 years ago, but that looks alot more fun. I loved the Isles. As you say like the Caribbean. I've lost too much eyesight to fly properly. The one joy of my life.
Great How To on how to get to the Scillies! What I liked was the understated narration, leaving the fab images to speak for themselves....well done; one of the best short-flight vids on YT.👌💪
Hi, no I don't, I do have a lifejacket and personal locator beacon, the problem with immersion suits in a flexwing is it's not practical to wear it all the time and they are quite bulky to store when not in use
I enjoyed the video. But it would've been 10x better if you had pointed out, maybe with graphics, the different towns, villages and landmarks. Such a shame
@deanmcbride8747 hi, yes you do need a licence, these machines can vary from about £1500 to £60,000, the most common one, the quantum, can be had for anything from £3000 to around £9000
Wow, amazing to see 😍... thanks for filming it 👌. I had a gorgeous week in the Isles of Scilly about 20 years ago and flew by helicopter... It was as clear and beautiful as your flight... as you say.. Could be anywhere in the Caribbean. We've also been to the Maldives and I think the Isles of Scilly are as beautiful 💖🙏🏖️
Wow looks like the Maldives from the beaches and clear water. just kidding, but looks stunning. Who would've thought we have that in the channel close to the Atlantic
Just wondering what precautions you have to take for that distance over water, is it just height for glide distance and hope? Sorry if it’s a dumb question
That is fantastic! Loved the flight, and have subscribed. I've wanted to visit the Scilly Isles, and now I have, sort of! I wish I were healthy enough to do this kind of thing. I fly a drone to get footage and photos for my channel, and so see the ground from up to 400 ft overhead, but with a microlight I could get me lots of even better footage. I've always wanted to fly up close and personal to the clouds.
How are you finding the parts and servicing since the Indian company took over P & M? (I used to work for them (P & M) before they went into receivership!) Also, are you wearing a goon suit and have any extra safety equipment flying over water?
Cool, glad you're sorted! I still have a little puff of pride when i see the struts, cables and wings, wondering whether they were any that I had made! 🤔
It really doesn’t need the music. Far too many videos on RU-vid with it when all we want is the ambience of the background or the sounds of whatever is happening in the video.
