i remember when you would go against someone better, and you wanted to be better then them, now everyone cries when even a decent player gets the up on them and kills them... its so sad, and fortnite wont even seperate casual and competitive so the crying just gets worse and worse
I played part of the Open Duos Cup on Europe servers and we didn't do that good considering we only got through like 2 games and we started with 30 minutes left in the tournament, but we would've done a lot worse if it wasn't for this! Amazing work!
It's funny though because this attitude also permeates different "factions" of the gaming community. Not all gamers are FPS, BR, Deathmatch lovers. My younger brother is arguably a much bigger gamer than me in our adult lives. I got back into gaming in part because of Fortnite and teaching my son how to play with his friends. It re-ignited my old Doom/Quake/Unreal Tournament deathmatch memories and I dove back in. But I was always an FPS game style lover. My younger brother looks down on Fortnite. He thought Fortnite should have stuck with it's Save the World iteration, and he hates Battle Royale with a passion. So even as a gamer, he looks down on Fortnite and those that are good at it. And I know there are others out there with that attitude as well. To him, the recent Fallout collab was lame, simply because Fortnite did it. So, it's interesting. You are right. Fortnite changed the industry and the whole social landscape around gaming in a way we hadn't seen in a long while. Great take and great video as always. And while I don't play comps (I will probably give it a try soon just to see what the experience is like) I love the grind of learning and improving my skill mainly at Builds. I play ZB as well, but to me, the build mechanics were the truly unique gameplay aspect of Fortnite. And learning that new game mechanic is the challenge that brought me back to gaming as an old man LOL (47yo here yikes!). But I pay attention to your vids when they drop and try to incorporate as much as I can into my gameplay.
Id say im a true gamer, id be one of those people considered not touching grass i suppose, ive been playing fortnite since chapter 1 season 5 and remember when i actually stood a chance to get a win, i pretty consistantly make it to top 10 or better but am not the best at the game by any means, and even after all these years im garbage at building to point i gave up on trying to 😅, but now every time i reach the finale its always the guys that spent way to many hours playing the game and it's just a lot now (not so much this season since almost all the sweats left because they couldnt adapt, i had to adapt to taking out builders from the ground you can adapt to this, and no i hate zero build i still play build), feels almost impossible because theyre just to good at the game, im more of a casual player with fortnite but do have my competitive side when it comes to the game so ill make the comments about them not touching grass and such but not really mean it cause obviously im the same, but yeah i agree with the casuals, sweats do ruin the game to a point i dont blame them for getting good at the game, i mostly hate how cocky they are, when ever you see a video of a sweat you go into the comments having the casuals saying their usual stuff then the sweats "oh thats easy bro just go practice in creative and just say youre trash at the game" and its pretty that comment every single time, and of course streamers being "so good" that if you kill them youll get banned for being a hacker or stream sniper *cough* ninja *cough*
If you never learned how to fully build, you may have been going about it wrong. I'm not sure how much you know about building, but here is a good starter vid I made ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nWRFaaHUZZ0.html
@reidtheninja it's been quite a while since I've tried, when I tried getting better I did a little but not good enough to be of any help in battle, so when I play solos I just adapted to fighting builders on the ground and have gotten really good at combating them besides the speed builders that build 5 star hotels in 5 seconds, in duos or squads my teammate is the builder lol
I feel like Fortnite would have a healthier ecosystem if turbo build was never added. Of course it’s too late to take it back but if speed was capped better players would still win most of the fights but the casuals would feel like they still have a chance
even if turbo build were taken away, which i think is a horrible idea, the people who put the work into being good will simply always be better, even in a mode like zero build
@@cowboi9042 I know, I was just wondering if turbo build was never added back in chapter one if there would be a healthier balance, or at least less hate between “casuals” and “sweats”
@@whyy9383 nah, the best solution for both is for fortnite to seperate pubs and ranked/comp, even if turbo building was never invented the skill gap would stay high and would that even be enjoyable? it would basically just be spray royale sounds more boring than zb which is already boring
cuz if u use it in a bad way ur just bad, u expect people to not get better at the game? also many people make a living off the game so ofc their gonna be on the whole day
Not really. The point is to study when being "sweaty" became bad. Being sweaty and a try hard used to be something that a lot of people looked up to because they wanted to be as good.
Yeah I feel you. That's why I like the Reloaded game mode so much, because it is playing the game like regular, but you don't have to be so afraid of dying and requeuing
@@bran8k562 buildfighting just to get good at br? buildfights aren't what br is about. Building is just a staple of br. Tryharding wasn't nessessary to win in fortnite, and now it is because other people are tryharding
@@bran8k562 Well yeah, but I meant being TOO good, overbuilding, and going for fancy clips. Of course, you have to be good at building, its a core aspect of the game. But you shouldn't have to be a tryhard is what I'm saying.
I just wanna say thanks Reid. I haven’t really played all season (I’m not trying to start a fight okay) but this video makes me want to pick the game back up!
the issue is that the people that dont play games are telling you how to play games they get mad that they arent the best and complain without wanting to put in the effort since they never were actually enjoying the game for being a game it was just a way to ruin something for actual gamers
I see sweats as those who DONT play for fun but rather to run the chance of making money. Those who care about winning rather than enjoying the game. Gaming imo is about having fun, and in a game where the skill based matchmaking is awful, most players end up having to try their hardest to achieve the bare minimum which is not fun. Losing is fine until it feels unfair
That's not really true I'm really good and play for fun and lots of other people also do and at this point some people call people sweats for placing 2 ramps
@@eelovfx9200 Nono I'm not saying good players don't enjoy the game. I'm saying that my definition of a sweat is someone who plays a game they don't enjoy JUST for the money or ranking
I'm addicted to games but i'm bad at all games (never beaten minecraft) but i wanna be better and better but i dont know how to become better (i dont think this channel will help me cause i'm on the level: box up, few stairs and 50/50 (for me it's 20/80))
Let me put you on brother. Follow this video, rewatch it, and implement it and you will get better ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nWRFaaHUZZ0.html
@@reidtheninja + can i do something with my brain output lag? (exapmle form today: i'm trying to edit cone in my box so i'm in edit mode and i saw guy who entered my box and i didn't shoot me until he shooted me...)
Since I believe every member has been caught cheating, Team Agent should be banned both as an Org and each individual player because if you cheat or knowingly play with cheaters, your competitive career should be over!
The word people used back in the day was "tryhard". It was used for people who cared more about winning and would use the meta. These are the people who would dropshot and do callouts in public matches. Today, people call them "sweats", although I think the word is a little overused now. "Sweating" has always been seen as a bad thing.
I remember I used to grind the game for like 12 hours a day in season 9 chapter 1 and I really wish I knew about world cup because I really do believe I had a chance
@@reidtheninja Same, I even got the 300 arena points needed to play the quals, but my parents didn't allow me to play everyday and couldn't play it :')
I have always thought this as well. I have friends much worse than me that I can imagine dripping literal sweat and than they complain and smash their shit when they die to a “sweat”
@@reidtheninjai say that being good is your good when your not trying which is me, obviously I’m better when I try but my thought is sweats are people that think they’re going to be a tier 1 and they’re not even in elite or something
I’m thinking of learning how to edit videos and since you have a really simple but effective style may I ask what editing software do you use? Btw great vid I’m watching it at 11:32pm over here.
