I really like how Dave plays!! Note selection and phrasing is really enjoyable to hear.. (I think it’s rare this type of playing) .. and comes across so EFFORTLESSLY! Does anyone know where Dave is now, and is he still at it?? I hope so, I met Dave at Cornish in early 90’s.
Dave, you are simply beautiful. I remember you so clearly from Parnell's back in the day. I am Paul, the redheaded doorman and bouncer 1982-86. I think of those times with such tenderness. I am now a research philosopher and writer. Check out The Seventh Tool: a novel in 3 volumes on Amazon. I am so happy that I found you again!
Thanks for such a nice rendition of such a nice ballad. I've always liked Jeff's playing since I first heard him in OKC many years ago. All of you play so well together.
I first came across Dave as a colleague while I was teen at the National Stage Band Camps Summer Jazz Clinic at Portland State. He's a gem of jazz artist. This recording capturing some excellent voicings, agree on the Bill Evans influence.
Both Dave Peck and my good friend Jeff Johnson are simply exquisite sounding on this melancholy tune; so poignant, so beautiful. It really strikes deeply in the heart.
Dave Peck is great. Shades of Keith Jarrett and Bill Evans. And his back-up musicians unsurpassed. One of my absolute favorite songs which I've been playing for years in the ballad format.
Chet's version has been my favorite since it was released (1975?). This is such a beautifully played tribute to Chet. Now I have two favorites. I've been a fan of yours for several years. I hope to hear you in person someday.
