New London Architecture (NLA) is an independent forum for discussion, debate and information about architecture, planning, development and construction in the capital. Our core mission is to bring people together to shape a better city.

A busy year-round programme of events, research and exhibitions examines all issues affecting London’s built environment and attracts all those with a stake in the future of the city - politicians, professionals and the public. We bring the broadest group of people from all disciplines and communities together to share knowledge and debate the city’s unprecedented growth.

Don't like tall buildings on waterside's as they are too overpowering. Better to have them in clusters away from the water.

The issue is the lack of smart affordable apartments for working people. Living in a high rise in central Tokyo is perfectly doable on £25k a year. The result is a bustling city full of normal people living their lives. In London the high rises seem exclusively for stock brokers and oligarchs - and this is reflected in how dead it often feels at the bases of such buildings at night.

That one canada square tower in canary wharf was supposed to be over 260meters taller and thinner, but its all thanks to city airport that stop them from building it taller, but why couldn't they just close the city airport down or just move them west of London or far west, so they don't have to worry about the airport radar's, just wish we have 350meters to 400 meters skyscraper at canary wharf like they did at New York where they have world trade centre down lower Manhatten and Empire state building in mid Manhatten, or would you rather have 700ft tower and another 700ft tower next to it all over London gets you leaving like Huh? Plus it dont look right And for that one undershaft, just wanna say instead of having one Big building, why not have 2 skinny or thin skyscrapers say at hopefully 350meters or lower to 330meters with a sky glass deck like they did at London tower bridge and that would get everyone Buzzing and i would be Buzzing too or otherwise its gonna look Boring tho just saying?

@@alex1207_ Weird comment to make considering Hungary has some great modernism architecture (and the style you're seeing here isn't even modernism, it's more contemporary mixed with International)
@alex1207_
@alex1207_ 3 месяца назад
@@currentlyquang If I had to name a country that has some interesting looking modernist architecture, It would either be Serbia or Russia, definitely not Hungary, modernist architecture is boring here. (I don't think Art Nouveau can be classified as modernism) The point I'm trying to make is that the skyline of Budapest if you look at it from one of the main bridges on the Danube looks almost exactly like it did in 1914, almost because some buildings got destroyed in WW2, and not because it was ruined by giant skyscrapers, the same thing absolutely cannot be said about London. Any architect who works in a post-Bauhaus or dominant in the 21st century style can be referred to as a modernist architect whatever you call their style, contemporary or international.

Making new towers is irresponsible, you should use that money to revamp the old main streets and old houses from zone 1 to zone 6. The main streets are too old, we have to demolish then and make more modern centers, without red bricks. I prefer the grey and yellow ones.haha. It makes me think of the line project in saudi arabia ehen they could use that money for more responsible projects. We are so impressed by your towers congratulations. Now please can you take care of the accomodations? Many thanks

Don’t you want to redo the old main streets and redo the bad red houses spread out on kilometres instead from zone 2 to zone 12? Instead of trying to impress Europeans through image with aireal footage of towers? Because when we come in real, there is some disappointment, when we walk downtown. We can’t even live in these towers as it is 90% of the time for business purposes .The gap image_reality is too big… for example the shard -zone 1- is beautiful but its neighbourhood is depraved more than any neighbourhood/block/street in Germany or Spain… it is impressive in the air, but walking in these streets are the reasons why I left London after 4 years. The lie is too big.
@Dlldkekedldkfdkk
@Dlldkekedldkfdkk 4 месяца назад
Yes, it is irresponsible to make towers when you see the state of greater London and even zone 1-2 when downtown. They should find a solution for these bad main streets and houses, true!

The future of skyscrapers are mixed use, mixed material buildings for mixed incomes... Everyone who wants to live in one should be able to both from a financial and family size aspect... Tall timber/CLT with concrete cores should be seriously looked into as they are technically viable up to at least 40 stories now!

@@olivercuenca4109 I wouldn't mind a few more in Cardiff, but yeah I do mean mainly outside the city. You don't really need crazy high population to justify tall buildings, and they might be well-suited to the limited building area of the Valleys. It's more of a long term wish though.
