If I'm not mistaken in the conversation on which Halo game had Firefight I believe Halo 4 didn't have Firefight but instead it has Spartan Ops. Halo 5 does have Firefight but in there it's called Warzone Firefight and it's objective based so it's not like the normal Firefight where you fight and survive for as long as possible.
That map right there at 21:42 , if you find the Custom Equipment you can summon in 2 hunters to help you out in the fight, just be careful though if they die you can't get them back unless you have the Bandana skull on.

i think what your friend means by big dome thing at 13:19 is probably the Shroud Screen which is a piece of equipment that you can use that well creates a giant blue dome which I heard can be helpful in Firefight but from my experience it hasn't done much but block my sight.
