I am a self-taught watercolorist, graphic designer and art teacher. My works have been strongly inuenced by the locations I have lived. As a watercolor artist, my paintings have always leaned toward a realistic interpretation of nature, birds being of the greatest interest. I teach watercolors and drawing for both adults and children. I have developed a deep passion for passing on what I have learned over 35 years.
I like it! love the rocks so much. A great idea for a different background. I enjoyed this a lot. You inspired me to stretch the background I already have to see if I can make it more interesting...or just ruin the whole thing, of course!!! Thanks!
great tutorial, Love watching you work. The links for materials and guides and sketches do not work. they do not work in other of your tutorial as well.
I started using Arteza acrylic “24 set” & very good. Then got tubes of Arteza watercolor & even on good 100% cotton paper the colors were not vibrant. Then had to chip pieces out of the pallet but then in and hard as rocks (after sitting in water) for a week! Maybe got a strange batch?
So glad to find your channel, this demo is so helpful and a very beautiful painting. You mentioned you coat your paints in Epoxy could you explain what it is please & why you use it? Thank you
I am just starting my watercolor journey, and this is the best tutorial I have seen so far! Fantastic instruction, I felt like I was in a classroom. So many wonderful tips, tricks, and encouragement. Thank you!!’
Just love watching you paint & your energy & was on that island feeding those koi fish at 11 & they rush you. I know they say drawing can be learned skill but some of us didn’t get as much (myself) & trying to transfer w copy paper (no), drawing it myself (try but looks not like koi fish) & only other way is light box. Printer knowledge still in the 70’s mentally so print something get half of fish! Maybe try smaller lil koi fish “abstract” 😊! Can still enjoy painting even if not big koi fish.
This video taught me more about how to get your shadows without added the dreaded “black” & have a color wheel & use it. What really taught me more was doing a full color wheel (warm/cool primaries) & so on with paints I have & for a beginner & wonder (which is complementary to red violet) & can just now look at mine! Now doing second one with muted colors! What kind of brushes do you use as good paper (100% cotton) very important, paints good but each brush can have different abilities & like Aqua Elites but using flat brushes seem difficult (not many videos) on using them except to wet whole page? Tyvm!
I have just come across your video and have subscribed as I’d like to learn more from you. I wanted to learn how to paint a waterfall and began searching RU-vid when I came across this video. What actually caught my eye and made me stop and take a closer look, even though you were teaching something altogether different, was the beauty of this painting, and of course, the waterfall. It was and is, in my opinion, the best watercolour waterfall painting I’ve seen, and believe me I’ve been searching RU-vid for a very long time in regards to waterfalls. The composition of your rocks and their colors are fabulous, ant the overall painting is quite strikingly beautiful. My question to you is… will you be teaching this painting any time soon because I certainly hope so!! ❤ The painting would teach me so very much.. For instance ~ foliage, composition, rock shapes, colors , textures, negative painting, where soft and hard edges work best for the painting etc.
Your painting skill is awesome! Your camera man is very distracting to your video....when he's not fiddling or opening packages and drawers he's coughing! And why in the world do we need to actually see him??? Will continue to watch your videos, and hope the next one is more relaxing! Thanks for the lesson.
In case anyone is interested. 😀 Lichen is a form of life that is actually a symbiotic relationship between fungi and algae.or cyanobacteria. The fungi needs carbon and the algae provides it through photosynthesis, which fungi can't do.
Best Solstice Present ever! I found that you and Mark are back on the air! And, still doing a great job of producing lovely art, and a LOT of useful data to improve our work!
At last someone teaches, showing what he's talking about ,instead of the many idiots out there thinking watching their mouth wagging is helping us understand 😅
Always excited to see a new video from you Keith! You taught me how to paint amazing birches in your video many years ago. There are a lot of people out there teaching birches, but yours is the absolute best. P.S. Don't make us wait too long for part 2 please!
Hello! Thank you for a great tutorial! I wanted to mention… and I’m really trying to be helpful… Bob Ross was an oil painter… he didn’t use acrylics. Also, the brush company is KingArt…no “s” in the name at all! I hope they do sponsor you! They make amazing brushes! Thanks for sharing your techniques!
Though the comics and copywrite information was interesting, I would have really liked to hear Keith explain his techniques with the tree he was painting. Thanks for listening.
So grateful to see you back with these extended videos! Thanks so much, I learn a lot from you - keep it up, love your subjects and how they are executed!
Hi Keith! Awesome barn! I know that you know this, but it might be worth mentioning/ showing beginners how to do a swatch card of colors so that they don’t accidentally put a color on their work, as you avoided a few times in this one! So glad to see you back! Thanks
