My name is Jordon, I am 24 years old and I work as a class 1 LGV driver (I started almost 6 years ago, when I was 18) in the south of England. Please join me on my adventures as a class 1 driver and aspiring pilot; I vlog weekly/bi-weekly to show you what goes on in the world of trucking. Above all, I make these vlogs to document my life so that I can watch them in years to come, whilst also encouraging more young people to take the leap and join the logistics industry as a new driver.
I try to represent the real world as closely as possible in the vlogs that I make.

The spring holds the bar open, it's only when something enters the fifth wheel and presses on the mechanism that the spring comes across to hold trailer in place. So no, you don't need to open it for coupling unless someone has purposely closed it
final got my class 1 this year, at 18 im finding it hard for someone to take me on including agency, since lots of them won't take you on until 21 but not gonna give up everyday applying to new jobs can't wait to get started.
This is the first and only vid on here that tells it how i am being taught. (Same Renault truck also) Pull forward a few feet so the 5th wheel is out of the kingpin, then lower the tractors suspension, so the trailer drops onto its legs, then off you drive. All other vids just show you driving straight out. And when re-coupling, repeat the same process. We are told to check the trailer over before coupling, just to make sure its free of defects, and then do a light check afterwards once its all connected, and then numberplate is near enough the last thing. Im here watching, just to drum it into my head over and over what to do, as first time, i missed doing the two pulls forward. Big thanks for this tho.
Hi, our situations are quite similar. I work using a class 1 although not OTR driving and doing the modular route. Just finishing my ppl now. How’s your training going? Your RT is really good.
I wish, cost of flying at the moment is ludicrous! Have finished my hour building now so that gives me far less incentive to do long days of flying lol
@@martinmillar8447 you need extra qualifications for that, also you only need to build up to 150 hours unlike in the US to get an airline job. I have been doing maintenance flights when able but around full time work it can be challenging
Great video just a quick question im using a dual fifth wheel so I can have it in low position or high position would it be the same steps in low position im new to the trucking industry so just wanted to clarify
Cool video I love london driving its a real challenge can I ask you how you studied for your cpc case studies and what tips can you give on the best way to retain information and how to pass? cheers!!
THATS NOT A RENAULT TRUCK….Nice one mate, but one thing!!!! That’s where my Oakley sunglasses have gone….😡 you find them in my truck and give to your pal lol
Hi pal, awesome to see content back here! Love to see the aviation content here it's what I'm here for! If you've completed ATPLs how did you manage the study/ work life whilst trucking it's what I'm having to undertake soon and wonder if you've got any tips?
Hi Brad, good to hear from you - I actually studied for my ATPLS back in 2019/2020 but had to stop my training as covid really was not a good time to invest in the training considering the state of the industry back then. So, although I will be studying for them again in the near future, I have a lot of experience (Passed 10, 92% average) and a lot of tips and tricks for the studying side of it. I should make a video on it really! It comes down to having the passion and dedication to the ATPLs ultimately - I used to spend 8-10 hours at work and then would just study pretty much the entire night. Future video for more tips maybe? ;) Keep in touch
@@YoungTruckerUK Thanks for the reply pal, is there any ways of contacting yourself. Instagram Facebook let's keep in touch! Funny how all of us gravitate towards the same thing. I'm 18 myself, and your route to flying and you have both been a big inspo to me... You completed 10 but didn't do the last 3? ;) (Fkk knows what's going on with the licensing in this country easa or caa 😂) Im looking at either aeros and CAT3C for the ground school or BGS. Studying in the cab all night it seems!
It was a very good and useful video thank you. When you said that you want to become a pilot, I was surprised, because currently I am getting into the industry to save up for flight training too, I didn't know that there is anyone except me who does it this way but nice to see that I'm not the only one. By the way I'm currently doing my CPC and I'm 20. All the best from Hungary
@@YoungTruckerUK yes I just saw one of your flying videos, it would be amazing to see some more of that. You definitely earned a subscription from me. I hope to do my PPL next year sometime
Nice video. I've transited Southend (quiet) and Farnborough (fairly busy), so it's nice to see that one of the big London airports is no more intense to cross than those two.
They are saying is national shortage of drivers ?!!! So ... why the examiners fail and fail and fail repeatedly the candidates at LGV On Road driving test ? Because is a MAFIA, they are paid by the instructors to fail the clients, to do money renting the vehicles for reexams. Everybody is doing money At DVSA 115 £ for 1 h On Road test The instructor 200 £ for the lorry for 1 h
Don’t waste your money to be treated like a absolute fool and a donkey,by all and sundry!get a trade on the building or in the renewables industry and have this as a back up maybe?
28 days + Christmas Day. I don’t tend to sit down for too long at a time, depends on route. Short routes I only do 2 hours driving a day. Long routes I do 8
I’m still around viewing comments at least. Would love to come back it’s all about time it takes to edit videos mostly. Also doing similar routes everyday mean it could get a bit boring after a while. Your comment has been noted though, you aren’t the only one! 😂
@@YoungTruckerUK Nice one mate. And don’t worry about the route, what you talk about is more important. Tell us about your experiences, and how do you deal with the responsibility of driving a massive killing machine? One moment of lack of concentration and the consequences could be grave, how do you deal with that? I’ve just started training for class 2 (two days ago) on a government skills boot camp, and I’m really struggling to get my head around all the rules about driver hours so a video on that would be great! But also you could tell us about real world experience. Do you ever come under pressure from bosses to go over your hours? Or to take a bigger load than you’re allowed? Or to hurry up on the road cos they need you to be quick? If so how do you deal with such things? Just some ideas for ya mate. Have a good weekend 👍
Hello Captain! I love driving Volvo but apparently they're not cheap to run. Got stuck with a big Renault but it does the job. Am Trunking double deckers. Good luck with ATPL city!
"Nice and peaceful, calm and controlled" Excellent video. Most helpful. I needed that about using the suspension. Easier on everything. Thank you. Can I just say that if you can't turn the legs handle because it's jammed due to the mechanical pressure, try raising the suspension a little and you will then be able to crank the handle to raise the legs. Same with the Brake line Suzy. If you cannot push it onto the nozzle due to the pressure, then go and raise (or lower..?) the suspension again and then it will go on easy. Another way to deal with too much pressure stopping you from connecting the red line on, is to go to the cab and pump the air brakes, several times to lower the brake pressure. Then try again and you will find you can connect the airline.
Absolutely you should you are correct. Chances are the trailer condition will be identical to when I dropped it 30 seconds beforehand 😉 generally always trailer check when coupling
