Great! More or less a fail-safe way to overwinter a hardy mum. I suppose you could take out it to a different area your property if you have space to tuck it away somewhere. Maybe you could get way with less hay...but certainly, the more, the better. Will see this year Plastic open garden mesh that people use to protect their bulbs from squirrels, etc., is also a good idea to put over the hay...then pinning it down to the ground with U-clips.
