How do you feel about apistans’s effectiveness? I’ve just used it in my five hives then was seeing some bad press afterwards

Why do these people always talk about northern America and never about a country similar to ours like africa , we aren't covered with snow for 3 months, Africa didn't treat at the beginning and now they have bees that can deal with them

If you don't want varroa don't use carniolan bee specie and use others. Carniolan bees produce more honey but gets varroa, may be these bees genetically modified by human like white leg horn chikens quickly get deseases.

Native bee guy kept saying Tetragonula austroplebeia (& had it written on the slide) when he surely meant Austroplebeia australis? Also, he described a fighting swarm as having fighting pairs with one surviving, or defeating, & flying off when Dr Tim Heard & others would say that the pair remain wrestling in a death grip with no survivors. Hard to take seriously!

The question in this is not the actions of the NSW DPI, which are sadly necessary. There is no conspiracy here to destroy food supplies, rather t5he opposite. This action is to protect our food supplies and agricultural production not only in New South Wales but across Australia. I commend the work of the DPI. I hope that people can see the necessary strategy, this is not the same as the COVID B.S. It is very difficult for many to see rationally after the nexus between large corporate and governments during COVID where we were all greatly mis-led with untruths and establishment misinformation and the corruption of the word and field of science. This situation is not associated with what happened during COVID but is a genuine attempt to eradicate Varroa both in our industry populations but also in the wild and feral bee populations. If we cannot eradicate it the results will be devastating, it is bad enough that Small Hive Beetle was allowed into Australia which has spread all over the Australian mainland. Unfortunately Varroa carries with it viruses which can further impact our bee populations. The party that should get the flack is not the DPI but the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service AQIS. Note Varroa in this case was first detected in the Port of Newcastle. The Varroa mite came in by ship on infected bees on that ship. The bees on any ship should have been detected in transit long before the ship docked. Varroa has made it to Australia previously and we have had ample opportunity to police methods and procedures to ensure that Varroa does not make it to Australian ports. AQIS need to be held to account. The NSW DPI nee to be commended and need our support as do the bee keepers effected by this situation.

Totally unnecessary killing off of bees! Mites have been around as long as bees have been. There are natural ways if dealing with them. Including letting the bees swarm to break the mite cycle.

Hi Kelly thanks for your video. Just a few questions now it's 6mths in. Why is the DPI is killing hives that don't even have the mites?? Especially when other countries have controlled it with natural methods. Also if you're wanting to keep it clean of chemicals then why will there be an aerial spray after you've killed all the hives in the mid and North coasts? Look forward to hearing back from you. Thanks MJH👍🐝

all the dpi did was kill all the native bees-- pack of morons--- all bees including natives bees in port stephens are dead thanks to these lot of idiots, they never checked any local hives for verroa, they just pumped petrol into the hives and gave them a horrible death, no wonder people took thier hives and hid them, i know 12 bee keepers and not 1 of them had verroa as no one checked they just killed them all and put baits in the bush and killed all native bees as well, we can do without this kind of enviromental vandalism

Eradication/euthanasia wasn't started and hasn't been completed quick enough. It's almost summer and the eradication in the red zones still hasn't been completed. The DPI website states, and I quote, "NSW DPI is receiving a high volume of calls about swarming." We should have been given the opportunity to euthanise our own hives much sooner than what they were done.

Excellen😊t work Chris! Having just completed my first rotation on euthanising in red zone I have appreciated the amount of work that has been done and continues with fresh crews! Thankyou not only to your good self but also to all those working behind the scenes supporting our efforts to eradicate this bee pest mite. To all those beekeepers out there wondering how they can assist please lodge your Volunteer Response Form giving them your contact details and availability. It would be good if we beekeepers could all find a week to Fight the Mite! My experience last week was excellent servicing all those responsible beekeepers who 100% supported our efforts and in some cases assisted our team with appropriate access to difficult or remote locations and on one site supplied us all with cold drinks!!! My teams which literally changed in composition every night meant that you worked with different people from various backgrounds every night. The average day started at 300 with each team provided with materials to carry out their worksheet for that night. The AO/ Authorised Officer would contact each client to confirm est times for our daylight surveillance of sites to be serviced later that night. The assigned beekeepers would consult with AO in company of client to determine condition of hive boxes (lids, boxes and bases) and night time access routes. Upon finishing this physical survey of all assigned sites AO determines order of execution and the team settles down for a late afternoon feed with dessert provided by DPI via Tocal. The beekeeper advises AO when his team could start the process for the night at the first site. The beekeeper using a length of sponge ‘stick’ and a hive tool approaches the target hive after checking for any potential ‘escape’ holes and pushes any entrance bees back into the hive using hive tool quickly plugging the entrance. Any bees escaping bees can be treated with ethanol spray once entrance secured. The beekeeper then advises the hive is ready for euthenisation and two other members of team attend with a petrol soaked micro fibre cloth and a measured quantity of petrol. The beekeeper then ‘cracks’ lid open with cloth laid across frames quickly followed by remaining petrol poured around the edge of cloth finally emptying onto cloth. As hive temp is about 32-35 the petrol liquid quickly vaporises and fills the void inside the hive boxes from bottom to top as petrol vapour is heavier than air. It is this vapour which euthanises all the bees within two to three minutes. This is reason why it is important to have a secured space otherwise bees will quickly escape! When dealing with coffin/top bar hives it is particularly important for the team members to be ready to wrap the ‘tube’ as quickly as possible to create the void for the petrol to be effective in euthanising the bees. Once the bees are dead the hive bodies wrapped and taped with AO placing ident sticker and photographing hive bodies treated. I am glad to have supported this activity and met and spent some time with other people sharing in the camaraderie such events nurture! Cheers Mike Fogarty PS All of our clients shared our love bees and respected the fact that this process was necessary to secure our bee futures!

The Earth is cooler with the atmos/GHGs/albedo not warmer. To perform as advertised the GHGs require “extra” energy upwelling from the surface radiating as a black body. The kinetic heat transfer processes of the contiguous atmos molecules render that scenario impossible. No greenhouse effect, no GHG warming, no man/CO2 driven climate change or Gorebal warming. As an ex paramedic working in rural areas these Phostoxin (Phosphine) tablets were sadly used by farmers who could see no way out of the troubles they faced. I know first hand how very dangerous they are to the extent that when a patient had ingested one we needed to transport them in an open vehicle to get them to hospital but alerting the hospital what was coming as it's as he said EXTREMELY Dangerous! Just don't use it
