The NRMA Kennedy Awards for Excellence in Journalism celebrates the talents and creativity of Australia's finest news media professionals - and the contribution of past masters. Staged in Sydney annually on the second Friday in August. Produced by The Kennedy Foundation - supporting news media colleagues in hardship, with compassion in confidence.
Should not have received this award. He is a slander and has made a lot of defamatory comments about financial institutions in 2023. He has lost multiple judgments in the court of law in Australia, which is very difficult to lose. He has excessively lied in court and should be the model journalist for what not to do. Probably a terrible human all around and I feel bad for any fool that he reads his publications.
Jana Wendt did a 1987 60 minutes video swept away about two young girls that many believed mark was not consistent in his story ..I was given to mark 6 years after the story ..Jana's story swept away was only found this year by me online..I have much to aay
Where are the new Janas . They are out there , but not employable unfortunately. Maybe the ABC would employ her but definitely not News Ltd. she is the best female journalist I have ever seen bar none. Also a brilliant ( equal best with Kerri O’Brien of the ABC) interviewer. My god we need both of them now with the media & politicians running wild with lies & BS. Laurie Oakes is often mentioned, No there was obvious bias in my opinion. The Children overboard story destroyed his credibility for me.
Are we talking about the same person on here??? This woman was the most hated person on Australian TV and here we are treating her like a saint. There was a reason she was "asked to leave" 60 minutes and that was because her obnoxious personality was defaming the franchise.
Viewers simply mostly loved her. Her time hosting A Current Affair is usually considered it's Golden age. Partly because she was a colourful interesting and surprisingly combative journalist.
Hated by who? I've never met anyone who doesn't remember her as anything other than an amazing journalist. Something that simply doesn't happen any more
I watched Richard Clapton one night at “the sound factory” Liverpool NSW Australia, and because the crowd was small he played two songs and went home!! We appreciated the band! But he thought we were a shit crowd and quit! At least SuperJesus kept Rocking On here✊👏👏👏👏✊
Yeh! Pretty face for Commercial Television back in the 80s -90s. About as much credibility as the show she was on.60 minutes. Hero's in their own Lunchtime. What motivated you Yana?...A massive Ego perhaps.
@@cv8z231 I never liked her. Something subtley dishonest and disingenuous about her. She used her beguiling beauty to seduce confessions and escape serious assessment. People used to say she had beauty AND brains. Hmm, I don't think it was the brains that got her all the accolades.
@@thedolphin5428 Agree. She probably wasnt lacking any brains.Just not a good one. My old man couldn't stand the sultry smug stare she d give to the people that she would interview. Foxes Megan Kelly was a good example, they have the answers they want to here before they even start the interview.almost a total bias to anyone else's opinion. Its terrible and frustrating journalism. Nah! She's been off the air for a long time and thats a good thing. Just an old product of the Capatilist 80s she was.
@@cv8z231 Yeah, that smug stare was really annoying! Her other annoying aspect was that Channel 9 and ACA and 60 mins were all tabloid mentality and brazen commercial ventures, yet Wendt fostered a reputation that she was better, smarter than that. Still there after many years (instead of migrating to better journalism) she basked in her populist limelight and massive pay packet as a typical media celebrity. She was just "an asset" to Packer. Sounds like your dad and I could start the "I hate Jana Wendt Fan Club". Two members is a start!
Walked past Jana this afternoon on Oxford st in sydney. Did some googling and ended up here. I’m not usually one for admiring celebrities but she is much more than that. What an amazing person she is. Departed the television industry too soon. She is stunningly beautiful, I didn’t think she’d be as small as she was though. Made my day!
wow winning an award for being awesome in one of the shittest papers in the world. i do hope that Jana gets better recognition than this. mind you if she’s spent more time workin for the daily than doing real journalism, it’s possible she’s not the journalist we thought she was in the 80s.
In my first year of teaching in 1979 I shared a house in Melbourne with six fellow school mates from Bendigo. One of of the few times we would come together was to watch Chanel 10 news, just to ogle Jana. We all voted her the sexiest woman on television. We even had photos of her on our kitchen wall.
No matter whether 2UE was rating a 4% or a 16% the newsroom always offered a quality news service that was not influenced by the power of the stars at the station. Straight up / up to the minute / well written news on the hour every hour. The loss of the 2UE news service is a such a loss to Sydney. For 90 years "Sydney didn't miss a thing". Now we miss 2UE news. Every time I hear the 2UE news theme followed by "Macquarie National News" I am saddened. Something is not quite right.
