My brother needed a bag after 4 surgeries from a hit and run accident, at Hopkins for 2 months. It's all new for him and us. The nurses at rehab replace the bag 2 or 3 times a day, don't have the right supplies, and started blaming him. One nurse had 24 patients one day, another day it was 14 patients per/nurse. We were afraid of infection. We called for a meeting with doctors, nurses, physical therapy, admin people, social worker, and it was good. They are very overworked, with no beds in hospitals and caregiving facilities. Patience is needed, but we're learning about supplies, etc. Seeing all the support, answers to questions, and tips are great.

To me that barrier looked like it was cut smaller than the stoma. With a hunk of rubber you can force the barrier over, but I don't think you would on a real stoma. The reality of changing these things is not as straight forward. The peristomal skin may be broken down or irregular. I've yet to find any videos that really help me apply these products in the real world.
Not enough lube and when trying to gentle pull it out …. Something strange happened … it was like I was playing tug of war with someone … I sat down and grabbed a tube of lubricating jelly and millimeter by millimeter very very slowly pulled it out. What a horrible scary experience. Please put a lot more lubricant in the sleeve - going back to old one
Three yrs using Hollister. Easiest to empty, BUT their wafer is Notorious for fraying & leaking, Usually in bed. About 2+ times a yr. Twice, I was wearing my Stealth Belt & it restricted the leak. Towel under my car seat got me home. Switched to Convetec and not had a leak in one yr. I go 4+ days per change. Longer makes my skin burn,

Same for me constantly leaking my pouch is supposed to last three days, only once have I achieved three days, I had an operation two months ago, so it was a big shock ending up with emergency ileostomy. At first it leaked mostly nighttime so my sheets were constantly in the wash I put kitchen roll in my pants just incase it leaks and I’m constantly checking to see what’s happening It’s going to take me a long time to feel confident with my stoma pouch

My advice is to warm up the paste in hot water before using. Fill up a Pyrex jug with approx. 1/3 boiling water and 2/3 cold and put the paste tube into the water before you begin removing your current pouch. Also moisten your finger to move the paste around more easily around the stoma. This is similar advice as another person who commented, as well.

Two hints that have made a big difference for me with this paste: 1. Warm the paste while it is still in the tube with a hair dryer. This makes it much easier to get a uniform, small bead as you apply it. 2. just after applying the paste to the base plate, dip your fingertip in warm water and smooth the bead without spreading it.

A decent bag for sure but two caveats: I feel for someone with arthritic hands and fingers, that winged valve on the bottom of the bag is tough to turn and the adapter to the night bag is very hard to snap on and off I can manage barely because my mitts are only slightly arthritic Suggestion, make a better valve and adapter These corrections will make this bag the best for me, so far
