One of the best parts about Hawaii is all beachfront land is required to be open to the public and can't be privately owned. So if you are at a resort they have to provide access to the shore and some amount parking as well.
Live in SF, 25k a year in rent. There are many factors that make me think being a dig. nomad is very expensive. I can buy food in costco in big quantities, store in the house and be fine for the whole month. When i go on vacation i spend way more money in food than when i stay at home, my guess is you must be spending a lot in food. I also dont have a car. I walk to work, which makes my transportation costs near zero. Being able to save more than 60% of my salary is key to sleep fine at night. Nice video, ty
Great call outs. Yes. We do eat out a lot and that cost is not factored in. But we do also make food at the airbnb often in big batches to make food costs closer to what it’s like being at home. Also that’s a great rent for SF! Congrats
Great video mate!! Japan is one of my favorite countries and the food there is exceptional! The fish markets are definitely a highlight for anyone visiting.
Hi Alvin, Thank you so much for the great videos. I started doing exactly the same thing as you have done since my NYC apartment lease ended in July. I have been staying in Oahu and other islands in Hawaii for about 4 weeks and your video on Oahu was very helpful too! After spend a month in Hawaii, I feel very empathetic with what you are saying in this video. Now I am considering digital nomading for a few years instead of renting an expensive apartment in NYC. I will keep following how your digital nomading goes and rooting for your journey. Cheers.
Wow. This comment made my day! I was just thinking to myself that i need to make more content. Perfect timing. What videos would you be interested in watching? What should i talk about?
Lanikai is nowhere near Diamond Head and you cannot see Lanikai from Diamond Head! And Lanikai is not on the North Shore and the sun does not disappear early.....get your facts straight.....
As a person living in oahu, i would say that this is the absolute best video for recommendations. Even the tourist places you recommened are actually worth visiting and im glad you left out the ones that are not worth visiting. Please make more videos like this!
Great video, Alvin! Would love to know (and I'm sure other people are curious about this) about the rough cost breakdowns and how it might compare to paying rent in one city. Also, I'm guessing tax preparation isn't that simple when working in multiple states? I worked in 2 states last year for the same job and it became quite complicated and ended up using a CPA.. must be much more complex with a nomad life style. I def think you should do some follow-up videos to get into these details!
Great questions tomu. I’ll throw these on the list of content ideas. The quick answer is that by staying with parents and friends here and there, housing costs were basically equivalent to our full-year SF rent from 2020!
Let’s GOOOOO 🔥🔥💥💥. Great video, valuable points, and good info. Working on the road is the norm for so many people now. We live in a digital age where remote working is so common. Let us know more tips on the best ways to work and travel at the same time in another video 🙏.
For a long stretch of uncrowded beach that is rimmed with trees if you want to escape the sun, I suggest Waimanalo, also called Sherwood. It’s our favorite due to its relaxed atmosphere and shade.
Wow great tips Alvin! Been dreaming of visiting Oahu and watching this is just very helpful! I always think that travels are made easier when you have the best travel gears and essentials too. The bento bag from Nomad Lane is my best carry-on bag for travels like this. Thought I'd share it with you guys too!
Stay 10 feet from the turtles! They are protected and you can't get near them. And if you have any health issues, don't listen to a thing in this video- none of these hikes are for bad knees, ankles, hearts, etc. (To include Diamond Head, which you need to hit by 5:45 am if you want parking, after you make a reservation with their new system.)
This is a great video! Extremely helpful for planning a trip to Oahu. The recommendations were all interesting and some were definitely new places I haven't seen in other popular videos. Thank you!
FYI I called Kualoa Ranch, and they said if you don't book online they charge a $15 non-refundable surcharge. They claim their website is working, but I was unable to book anything
