As amazing as a competitor Dorian was and his mindset, it was a complete travesty that Nasser never beat him! The man is dead now, by possibly pursing that, and that is an injustice that will never be resolved.
If bodybuilders followed Mike mentzers philosophy, there will not be supplement business . So big business was scared of Mike and destroyed his career by awarding Arnold Mr Olympia in 1980
Remarkable mindset! Not the greatest of all time subjectively, but for me, he was a phenomenal entity always to be remembered in this often destructive and dangerous human art form.
Okey, this documentary is very well put together. Mike Mentzers ideas and mind combined with others ideology is unparalleled. H.I.T and heavy duty is The ultimate training experience!
When i learned of Mike Mentzer i was intrigued and a skeptic then Dorian Era came and more and more people took noticed and followed the training me included. High intensity training such as Mike Mentzer and also Leo Costas imho revolutionized bodybuilding but didnt get enough credit for it as a lot of the training these days have their DNA. The key on doing these trainings is that the easiest part is lifting and nutrition and the hardest part is the mental aspect of it at least for my experience. Because u have to toss most of the things that uve learned and got accustomed to and trust the high intensity training process. It might work the first round but for the most part you will get disappointed because ur body is trying to adapt to the new training but on the second round you will feel and experience strength and growth u havent had.
Subscribed! You made amazing job! Thank you for not concentrating on his injures. Wery heartwarming documentary, it complements Ronnie's character a lot.
Mike s definitely overreacted. he had some limitations in his behaviour. and to know that he abused psychiatric drugs when he wanted to become a psychiatrist himself, well... that says a lot about his attitude.
I never thought in a million years I’d say this but… Mentzer needed God. Ayn Rand is fantastic but I’m struggling to find ANY intelligent atheists that aren’t fatally miserable. It’s Jesus. That guy I was too smart to believe in at 7yo… It was Him. He’s the answer. Unbelievable. Life is wild.
You know it bothers me when they refer to Mike Mentzer like he was doing something completely different than all the other guys who were huge too. Go lift a lot of weights and givver.
Nothing "controversial" about it whatsoever. If you're talking about him "out-massing" his competition......then remember, it was called body-BUILDING, not body-SCULPTING. Modern re-categorisation has gone a long way towards catering for a broader aesthetic, but Yates was playing by the "old rules" and simply took things to extremes within that competition model. That's not "controversial." For some, it was obviously the beginning of an unwanted or unappreciated "trend" which began to re-shape the competitive line-up....and made winning considerably more difficult for the genetically none-gifted, but it was/is a sport of "extremes" and if Yates hadn't come along when he did....then somebody else would have done eventually.
Guy went nuclear and was willing to risk his life with the GH and insulin before the others even thought of it….then those powers that be trying to justify them or their it wife (Weinberger) voted him champ….about as impressive as the last shit I took
