Pianist | Conductor | Musician Winner of the 2018 Opus Klassik Award for Concerto Recording of the Year, German pianist Frank Dupree recently came to international attention as the laureate prize winner of the 2014 Deutscher Musikwettbewerb, captivating the judges with his musical maturity, refined technique and ability to draw a wide spectrum of sound and colour from the keyboard. A “sincere, feeling and enormously interesting artist” (Emmanuel Ax) who “always amazes” (PZ News) and whose “broad tonal range and sinuous rhythmic technique” (Classical Source) have earned him acclaim amongst his peers on orchestral and chamber stages alike.
Unfortunately not! Most of it, especially the percussion parts, are improvised or played from the orchestral score. You can play Gershwin's original version!
The whole piece is a Variation of the same melody that Stravinsky used for the beginning of Rite of Spring. You can already hear the phrase in the very beginning.
5:46 I don't believe that the last part is just the sound of the iron rolling door closing. It may have allusions to world war 2 bombardment... (Taiwanese)
Wikipedia says: "The quijada, charrasca, or jawbone is an idiophone percussion instrument made from the jawbone of a donkey, horse, mule, or cattle, producing a powerful buzzing sound. [...] It is used in music in most of Latin America, including Mexico, Peru, El Salvador, Ecuador, and Cuba."
I discovered this channel from Kapustin Variations op.41. At that time, I was completely attracted by your tacit understanding and magical post-production, but I felt pity for the number of subscriptions. Then I found No.3 of Piano Pulse Project, and I thought you were full of joy and your arrangement was god damn great (I saw traces of Gershwin at 3:09!)! I hope to get your albums one day. I'm currently on summer break and I've been listening to these songs almost every day! Please continue to perform freely!
@@user-bd1ls8cu1s Thank you for your kind message! There are a lot of albums. I am sure, you will like the music of Nikolai Kapustin. There are a few videos here in RU-vid plus 3 albums. Check it out and let me know, how you like it! :)
at the Tchaikovsky competition 2011 Yeol Eum Son played this -- very very good, its interesting because she is a classical pianist - recomend to listen her version
Of course, I know her and her interpretations of the Kapustin solo pieces. She invited me to her Festival in Pyeoung Chang 2022 to play Kapustin with my trio.
