You have bad ugly, and good ugly. Those retro Tampa Bay uniforms classify as a good ugly. They are much better than their World League looking uniforms that came afterwards.

Many memories! You want a game full of memories? Thanks Earl Day, the day-long memorial info on Earl Weaver;s career on the telescreen, and Song Of The Year from Billboard charts played for every year of his managing career over the speakers. It was an exciting game. Went into extras, and Richie Dauer ended that quickly. Early in the 10th, he homered to left.

My dad and I took shelter inside that scoreboard. I think on one of those Prize Days they held in late September eevery year in the 60s. It rained so hard that it was everyone for themselves!

Me and my cousins were at the last game in Forbes about the 8 th inning I hear this destruction behind me and my cousin Fine was taking out a row of seats , you know the folding seats we sat on to watch the game we all thought good idea get some memorabilia so to work he got four attaches seats I ripped up a pice of artificial turf then I looked at the scoreboard , it was hand operated a worker changed the score inning by inning with metal numbers all of was printed on indivual metal sheets I ran to left field when I turned around behind me followed 1,000 yelling fans. 60 or so years later the seats rotted, the artificial turf disintegrated but fine still has the Saint Louis metal sign and some of the numbers from that left field scoreboard hanging in his basement good work fine

It fills me with a particular type of pride and joy seeing all my fellow North Carolinians in the comments loving our beautiful state as much as I do, often at work my fellow co-workers, some born and raised here and some who've moved here, only complain about NC, while yes the weather can be lets say.... "interesting" and Highways can sometimes feel like a free for all, along with other issues that we as a community can and should to come together to fix, there's so much more to compliment, the nice beaches out east, the beautiful mountains out west and all the forest and plains in-between, not to mention all the wonderful people. I've discovered in my short 22 years of life that while we may have different ideas on how to get there, we all just want the same thing, to be able to live comfortably, and I've been able to do that here. I feel so lucky to be born here and wouldn't want to leave for anything. (PS. I saw a joke about the F-35 that (somewhat) recently got lost over the Carolinas and crashed (nobody was hurt thank goodness) that went along the lines of "If the North Carolinians find the Crashed F-35 before the Military does, they're going to use what's left of the engines to make the fastest fishing boat known to mankind")

I know I’m a few days late but I had to come here after I heard that Carl Erskine passed away recently. That leaves Sandy Koufax as the last of the Boys of Summer.
@danbratten3103
@danbratten3103 4 месяца назад
Technically, Koufax wasn't one of The Boys of Summer. He is mentioned on 4 pages of the book, but was not one of the main subjects. Also he wasn't part of the earlier losses that the Boys of Summer were together for. Although, being a Brooklyn native, he experienced it in a different way. With Carl's passing there are now only 5 players left who played for the Brooklyn Dodgers: Bob Aspromonte, born June 19, 1938 Tommy Brown, born December 6, 1927 Jim Gentile, born June 3, 1934 Fred Kipp, born October 1, 1931 Sandy Koufax, born December 30, 1935 RIP Carl.😔

Went there a couple of times in the early 60s. They used to have a deal called the knot hole club.if you were the correct height to see thru the hole you got into general admission for free with an adult paid admission. I saw the greatest right fielder to every play the game.. # 21 if you don't his name you're not much of a fan.

My "Uncle Hooks" was the Usher for the Blue Box Seats on the 3rd. baseline boxes, just beside the split with the bleechers. Evert game I waited for him to give me the "high sign", I'd get up and go to the accordian gate separating the bleechers from the main stands, whisper the password to the gate keeper and go see "Uncks" who stuck me into the seat I now have at my house........my "Field of Dreams".
