From present day footage it appears this track has changed significantly. I raced here many times in the late 1960s, early 1970s in a Mini and a Lotus Cortina. What happened to the long and fast back straight, seems to have been lengthened and with more corners than I recall? I raced amongst Galaxies, Cobras, Ginettas, Chevrons - but usually not quite "alongside"! I see Andy Barton has a mention here. In my day he was known for crazy fast driving in a Morris Minor, modified to hell and back!
Manhal Allos Good to hear from you Manhal! Hope you’re well. Can’t believe this is 11 years old now! The SR3 lap record I set in this race still stands believe it or not. Thanks very much for the comments. I just kept my foot in! Not quite sure it would me today’s Blue Book regs though... 🤣 Regards, Anthony
@@BillyDontLift is this in a 1500 model or 1340? I realize these have changed a lot over the years as have the SR8's. I'm currently running a 2015 SR3 RSX 1340 (converted from 1500)...thinking about moving back to the 1500.
I live in hope of footage featuring Barton, Bell and Clacher fighting like alleycats in their 1000cc saloons from 69-71 eventually appearing. I used to be a paddock marshal at Croft from 69-71 and I had the job of pits hooter operator at some meetings. I was too young to be a marshal around the track. As a 13yr old trying on Carlos Pace's sweaty crash helmet just after he had won was awesome! Fond memories and some great racing in those days.
You prolly dont give a shit but if you guys are stoned like me atm you can watch pretty much all of the latest movies on Instaflixxer. Have been streaming with my brother recently :)
That was awesome. I have a question Mr. Dunn. There's an old video online of a Lotus Bathurst trophy race where the person goes from the back of the pack to first in one lap. Is that you?
sound sucks but great footage, couldn't believe that white sr8's straight like acceleration, but you got them all in those turns, do these corner at the same speed just the sr8 has more horsepower?
Now Michael, there is clearly no visible evidence of having two people in your car, it must be simply due to the fact that you were not pressing on full accelerator coming out of the corners or down the straights. You should also try shifting down a gear on corner exit. I've seen it on that film 'Driven' - it seems to work well x
Dunny, you fail to mention that my weight + my passengers weight = 2 Look at you your weight is best described as 0.2 HAHAHA ........ I am sure that black car is a fitted with a V8 LOL Good times ;)
Hi Lads, The issue with the brakes was ill fitting shoes on the back, now replaced. We had the 3.5 diff on and really needed the 3.9.It is a Tim Adams 289 FIA spec engine but we had developed a valve clearance issue so it was pretty much running on 6 cylinders, the noise might have been something to do with the back pressure.Other than that she was running like a dream !
Have to tap the brakes on mine too. Tried all the expensive fluids, none helped, just emptied my wallet faster! Lots of intake noise, is the car running webers?
That feels so much like my old Camaros round there, if I may comment I felt the pumping of the brakes a bit unnerving maybe he needs to try some Castrol SRP brake fluid if he is loosing the pedal that cured mine also it seems like he has quite a wide ratio gearbox in the car similar to the one in my 3rd Gen as I minced the C/Ratio one now repaired and on its way back in. It seems to drop off the cam a bit and I feel would be faster with closer ratios.
Video Vbox by Racelogic. If you are interested, I supply them and can also give good advice, having used them for a few years now. Feel free to call me if you want to discuss 07771 857818. Regards, Anthony
