As I wandered through Tehidy woods I took a trail Up a steep hill And past several trees To veer left Or West I revisited A hidden garden Discovered some time before Set out like a Ludo board Where benches framed the earthy floor Small paths connected to A centre point Where carved trees remain And gentle fairy tale figures Speak silently within I sat and watched The scene unfold Like an intricate pop up book Where wildlife abundant Seemed to choreograph the space I looked Carrion crows swooped from graceful wings Coal tits paired A flighty dance To chirp on branches Near by my sitting glance A solitary jay flecked blue As wings outstretched the air Then a squirrel as if in flight With aerial delight Jumps to centre wooden stump A Robin stops and stares As he feeds And a family of 3 generations Mother, child and Grandmother Take one last look before to leave And a tear rolls Down my cheek Of the moment Where I feel the past and future As I sit with the present With a quiet calm at ease
