Something I have kept with me throughout most of my teenage years into adulthood has been something that my father once told me. Here's the story that gives a little background to what he told me. I was reading one of my all time favorite comic books (Sonic the Hedgehog) and had at that time receniltly found out about Sonic having a Father. I was telling my dad, "I just found out about Sonic having a dad!" What did my dad tell me? "How else would of Sonic existed?!" I even had said (during those times and these times too) I normally would think that way (even if it was a video game/cartoon character) but I just wasn't thinking that way when I had read it. Anytime I think of a cartoon character but you never see their parents I think "how else would they exist in their world?" Seeing that Yogi has a father assures me that every single character has existing parents even if you never see them in any type of media form.
My mind was blown too. Every character had a family. Why? For the very same reason your and everybody else's father had. Regardless, all that was retconned eventually because the comic needed a clean slate before it ended up cleaning it a 2nd time
If he's too weak to walk, how would he be able to filch pic-a-nic baskets, Jughead Smith? And why would you accept at face value the news that Boo-Boo is doing fine but Yogi is starving? That makes no sense at all since they're partners in crime. Of course, only a jughead would leave that mansion for a stupid anthropomorphic bear in the first place.
With the way Smith treats him half the time, it's pretty satisfying to see Yogi finally stand up to him. At the same time, I can't help feeling bad for them both. Smith is doing his job, Yogi's making things difficult, but at the same time it's his instinct to get picnic baskets. He can't take the bear food like other bear stomachs.
Do you know if this is Disney in house or Star Toons? I get the vibe it's Star Toons. My favorite animation on my favorite show when I was a kid, Tiny Toons, was done by usually Star Toons or Tokyo Movie. It's hard to believe Tokyo Movie later went on to do the infamous Cowboy Bebop anime. Ah but I'm reminiscing too much.😅
This was animated by Walt Disney Australia, I think Star Toons did not work on any Disney cartoons. Tokyo Movie/TMS did, but not on Bonkers. Star Toons animated for Warner Bros., I really liked their work too on Tiny Toons and Taz-Mania. Disney Australia were known as Disney's best in-house animators for expressive faces, but you're right they have a similar style to Star Toons.
The reason for the video's poor quality is this show is very hard to find on streaming. I recently found a DVD set with the episode and may upload a higher quality DVD rip.
There was a wide range of animation quality back in the 90s, including within the same show, but this right here is a great example of quality animation that gives soul to the characters. While we have some very clean lines these days and characters stay on model better than ever, such as on any of those Seth MacFarlane shows, sadly the animation is just about moving from point A to point B, so to speak. If it wasn't for some of the few good voice actors we have today there would be no soul to most 2D animated characters. With that said, at least there are more and more quality animators popping up on YT giving us amazing short animations every now and then.
