d.b.s is to this day my favorite band of all time. As a young punk kid growing up in saskatchewan canada i first saw a young d.b.s in the mid 90s. Their music with Andy's specific type of guitar sound I'd never heard before and Jessie's voice combine with lyrics and emotions that so fit how i felt as a young street kid. I was lucky enough to see them everytime they came through my city and got to hangout with them on a few occasions. They were always the nicest guys and fun to talk to. I totally agree with Jessie's take on punk and mental health as d.b.s definitely got me through some hard time and great times. As well as other punk bands. Im old now with a family and different priorities in life but they are still the main band i listen to today. Great interview and glad the members of the band found success on their other passions once d.b.s. dispanded. Thank you gentlemen for great music that has been a part of most of my life!! Cheers!!🎉
Man..Damien has awesome guests. But I really wish he would cut it out with all of the SJW/BLM plugs in his shows. We get it. We all believe in equality. But there is being liberal..and there is being far left. He is pushing an agenda...and a lot of those involved are domestic terrorist. Don't push an agenda where equality isn't the intention. .. dominance is their agenda. They are essentially the black klan...and if you don't believe that.. you are freaking nuts. Straight up domestic terrorists.
It was more than Lydon's charisma, it was his wit and intelligence, totally unique, his lyrics changed the whole dynamic of punk, it would have just have been full of rock cliches without him and British punk would have been a second rate pastiche of New York punk with Sid as frontman. Sid and Steve trying to outdo each with their Johnny Thunders and Dee Dee Ramone poses. Lydon saved the Pistols from becoming the alternative Bay City Rollers that McLaren envisaged in 1975 and was the catalyst for what punk and post-punk became both in the uk and the US.
The French band with the Canadian singer is The Choices Singer is Jenny Woo. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gCXv1qizmIo.htmlsi=c9urUAU_rIVhIA0U
Am I really in a comment section where people are praising ICP and disrespecting one of the most legendary hardcore bands of the 90s? Wow, I’ve truly seen it all.
Good shout out to the Malvern's Sloths. They've forgotten more about Australian music than I'll ever know. Saw the Chats at their first Los Angeles show and they definitely made me think that there were young kids that could still do it.
Damien…I swear this podcast is consistently one of the brightest parts of my day! And this…so many amazing quotes, so much beautiful knowledge, thank you sir, and thank you CIV!!
I remember Mario from skate vids. Met him & Isaiah after an Earthless show. Super nice dudes. National of Ulysses came to Fargo, when I was 15 or 16. Blew my mind & Fugazi away.
Cant believe The Replacements and Husker Du were never mentioned in this conversation.......without those bands......most of modern "punk" would NOT exist......thanks for the interview.
