I'm a Hindu who lives around 10 minutes from this temple! I'm really glad that you got to visit it, it's honestly super spectacular and yep, it's all modeled after ancient Indian architecture. I really wish people would make more of this stuff instead of the ugly repetitive concrete blocks we see everywhere..!
Most people don't realise that BAPS organization has nothing to do with Hinduism. This is some fanatical splinter sect that is run by unemployed Gujarati men, and they are all males because women are not allowed to join the club. Where they get so much money to build marble mausoleums is a mystry

Most of the temples in Indian subcontinent including Indonesia are ruined by colonial rulers from Europe and Middle east and In India most of the temples are not hygenic so its better to visit such temples which are properly planned and clean like ISKON or Swaminarayan. But for getting inspired by art and culture one should must visit temples in Indian Union.
