I just found your channel, and glad to have found a fellow "buy once, cry once." That Genny Wren looks just so nice. My wallet is already hurting... Do you have any experience with the CRKT version? I would imagine it would be heavier and have a less quality steel and heat treat (heat tweet? Wren?) K, thanks for your informative and chill videos.
I fly fish and am frequently up to my waist in water, when I get home my best practice is to sometimes spray off my Sebenza with WD40. Most of the time I don’t. And guess what! It’s still razor sharp!
That’s a good point and now I have a Magnacut Large Inkosi - I am even more a fan of Chris Reeve now than I have been because you are correct, they nailed the heat treat! Leave it to the best knife maker (along with Microtech IMO) to absolutely nail Magnacut!
You shit the bed on a 20 minute live stream and then follow it up with a 30 minute video that I was done with in less than 2 minutes. Then you bitch about how everyone pronounces Mnandi wrong and then you get it wrong too. Your self-assessment @0:16 might be spot-on
I love that you said how you don’t love packaging and how when you started to make stuff you’d just do a plastic bag, but I know a ton of people absolutely love your packaging 😂
Best every day watch you can buy. 5K dependable built like a tank like a Land Cruiser. I can wear Rolex Panerai IWC and I choose this every day. It’s under the radar and as they say if you know you know. Nice review.
I’m wearing my Pelagos MN-FXD on an NDC strap. I hate bracelets and fixed strap bars (not spring bars) are great. I had a Submariner but sold it because I never bonded with it despite it being a great, well-built watch with a solid movement. The dull titanium was exactly what I was looking for. A word about NDC straps - Jacko sourced the material from the same factory that made the straps for the parachute bags the Marine Nationale used - it’s heavier elastic compared to what other companies offer. Even Erika’s Originals isn’t as good.
I got a 2010 large sebenza 21 and it’s pretty bitchin. No idaho made mark, the stone wash still looks really good and not matte. The flat side of the thumb lug is smooth and polished whereas later they would machine into it or leave it looking like a cast part that looks like a crazy bird eye instead of a blue jewel like flat polished surface.
The 2008 debut of the Umnumzaan with that iconic pivot won bladeshow knife of the year. It’s one that Chris said at the time encompassed everything in knife making he’d learned to that point. I really believed that it’s a boss knife that was changed unfortunately because people complained about it at the time about the lock bar tension and access and eventually they changed it for the worse. My favorite Sebenza 21 is when they still had the single sided pins or even the classic’s but up until about 2008 or 2009. After that they made changes that I did not prefer.
The Zach Wood pry bars are aesthetically and in their usefulness top notch. Without the bottle opener and in the CPM 3v I hardly couldn’t resist to buy one.
