Hey, cool topic to cover! Note about capacitors: power supply caps are usually electrolytic; and because of that, they DO have a definite lifespan. They're not meant to last more than about 10 years & then be replaced. Many times they obviously last much longer, but there's no guarantee. If the unit is left unused for long periods of time, it actually shortens the lifespan of electrolytic caps. One of the best ways to take care of vintage electronics is to actually turn them on & let thrm run for a bit every few months. If the caps are left to go bad, you can end up with all the problems you had. AND, sometimes they will blow up - literally. As in, explode. And they smell like ∆$$ when they do. Go out to your local electronics shop & pick up a few low-voltage electrolytic caps & put em across a wall outlet if you get super curious. Or just watch ElectroBoom on RU-vid - basically an explosion or fire in every video. While I don't work on CRT TVs, I DO work on just about anything else that runs on vacuum tubes - that runs on less than about 600V (that's my meter's limit.🤣). And I build my own guitar amps. If you need a nice electronics cleaner, I will highly recommend Caig DeOxit D5. Great stuff. Anyhoo, glad there's people out there still caring for the awesomeness that was our childhood!
1st and foremost welcome and 2nd thank you for just being so cool and sharing your knowledge. I will be sure to check out your recommendations. The funny thing 70% of this channel is focused on Comics.. at one time strickly GIJoe but as GenX we had our hat into everything so now its fun be free and just present things we all can enjoy and benefit from.
Eventually I will get back to recapping. When you've been doing it since 2014.. and how much "work" goes into creating recap vids...i was just burned out. I'm not saying anything negative about Energon Uni but I just feel Thundercats isnt getting much attention in community.. Its been surprisingly engaging. We all know with Hama's time on GIJoe ( especially with his hands deteriorating) coming to an end in near future.. its time for GIJOE to take these needed steps . I appreciate the amount of time an effort Robert Hickman/ Image is putting into as far as development.... They are building for Long Haul so to speak. Let me ask, are you also reading Void Rivals and Transformers along with GIJoe branded issues?
@@new2vero2 I haven't started void rivals yet. My oldest son is reading this series and we've been trading off between gi joe and transformers, to get the hole story. He's been recommending void rivals, I'll be barowing his soon.
Good to know We have another Fan like us. Definitely, sub and join in .. WE dont care about 9.8 only / CGC Only to give these iconic issues the proper respect. Welcome and thanks for your take :)
GI Joe the movie was wild. The franchise went bonkers. True, there were always sci fi and fantasy elements to the show, but the movie took it to a new level.
The entire line was excellent ! I also have the CD ( see video review).. trying to get the Cassette Walkman S2 - it was at the end of basically all 3 and I think Sony just built these above and beyond... kinda like the total of all the years, addressing issues that bothered others to yield a stellar product line... Good Choice.. See my recent walkman episode as well as some other GenX goodies like comics and magazines
@@RU-vid4Rudy I did post it but they are MDR-ZX110 .. under $10. Excellent rocking Walkmans Minidisc, and Discman… again your source is better than today’s streaming trash ..
@@jerrycruse638 BlackMajor ( guy) turned out to be a douche . HE video called me once ( which I taught was odd) but it was just audio.. He taught I saw his face and blocked me on Instagram… lol I didn’t even do anything. I did all that to help him out and he ended up blocking me for his stupidity.. so Black Major lives in a complex outside Gainesville Florida .. he breeds Pitbulls ( like a loser when shelters are overcrowded) .. that’s where he runs his unauthorized operation… F Him
Good video but your regular audio was quieter than your intro audio. Didn't know about Live Wire, always fun when characters jump from one medium to the other. The X-men cover reminds me of the song, "Eyes without a face" I too am a few issues away from finishing. My only copy of #155 is graded. I want a reader copy but hard to find that book in beat up condition for sale. I guess I need to start on Ultimate Spider-man. I have passed so far. Nice pick up on Poison Ivy Have a great day. Thanks.
@@andrewandrew4568 - Thank you for the audio..I was using that new mic 🎙️..but I don’t think it cut the mustard.. I remember LiveWire on cartoon but I had nooo clue they had a comic that was based off 90s Superman Animated.. but omg that 1966 Batman 181- 1st Poison Ivy THAT was most I’ve ever spent on a single book and I saw it for long term growth. Actually this month between those ASMs and this issue … That was my goal ( so I can go back to fun fun ) .. I know we talked about it but I would really recommend enjoying digital copies if not having a physical copy is holding back .. I feel bad for GIJoe fans cuz with this influx of “fans”.. it’s difficult to find good deals. Back in 2010-2016 ..it was great finding things action figures/ comics .. it was alot easier and less expensive
@@Will008 .. YOU should look at my recap of IDW run 281-285 … while I haven’t been recapping 301-307 ( far behind but will ) … I talk to Larry and he introduced soo many NeW Modern And Diverse Joes with great stories .. I don’t know what Hasbro or Image ( Energon universe) will do as they are going more Sci fi .. Dawn Moreno is Latino and she is great / female snake eyes .. watch issues 245-250 and you tell me .. she is a great representation for Latinos :) .. Larry Hama GIJoe is ALL about diversity as he is a minority himself! Yo ( Real ) Joe :)
I'm a navy veteran, so I was laughing at your potty mouth, then I was appreciating your knowledge and appreciation of history, but then you had to get political and bad mouth my guy Trump (Rutgers... explains it all).. Guess we can't be friends, but I'll still watch your channel.
@@gcxred4kat9 - What makes America great is you can still be friends with people despite different political views. I have never said anything ill or in malice to you .. I’m confused as to why being a Rutgers Alum and being a former Government operative /analyst a bad thing? I’m also a history buff too .. is education and knowledge a bad thing? I’m sorry but what is currently happening with Jan 6 and ProTrump movement is eerie similar to a certain movement that took place in German Prior to WWII .. What is outlined in Project 2025 is 3d Reich crazy … back in NJ my neighbors spent all summer at Atlantic City working on order Trump had replacing windows to one of casinos … after the work was done. Trump stiffed the entire company all those blue collar workers who worked in heat .. didn’t get 1 dime . Why don’t you fill out an application to Rent/ Stay at one of his properties.. put down your his supporter, all your achievements… and let me know what happens. Orange 🍊 Crush looks up to Confederates ( USA enemies/ Traitors- Killers of Americans starting with Ft.Sumter) , Adolf, and Putin .. don’t drink the bleach . I’m just politely retorting. I hope we can still engage and laugh at my Potty mouth ( happens when you work with military and grew up as US Marine as father ) :)
@new2vero2 Curious, who does your marine dad support? Who does the military overwhelmingly support? The guy who didn't get us into ANY new conflicts. Or the guy who doesn't think you should be allowed to join and then transition on the taxpayers dime. My problem with the Ivy League et al is they are woke cesspools indoctrinating young people to hate America. Guessing DEi came out of Rutgers, along with that rabid racist Woodrow Wilson.
@new2vero2 Who does the military overwhelmingly support? And not the few traitors at the top. Probably cuz he didn't get us in any NEW conflicts, and the Deep State can't have that.
When you said lowest number Spider-man, I was pulling for Ditko era. I love that stuff but most of my copies are restored/incomplete. You should target his last one (38). It is not his best but any Dikto is good. It is also right before the classic 39 which is sought after (I do not have that). The one you have is not Kraven's second appearance. He debuts in ASM #15. He then is in #34. Not a bad issue to target as well as it comes after #33 which is the famous Spider-man under the machinery. Kraven is also in the first Annual for ASM but not sure if you are counting that as an appearance. If so, then that is his second appearance, then #34 then the issue you have. That one is crazy expensive as First Sinister Six. I do have the 2nd annual which is a very good Spider-man teaming up with Doctor Strange. Excellent Ditko work that is not crazy priced (or wasn't when I got it). I couldn't get into Madam Webb the movie. It was an odd one. Sometimes I feel like people don't want to do a regular "super-hero" movie so they change it up for no good reason. Very nice books as always. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day, no, a great week, better yet a really great month.
I did enjoy how careful you had to be with some of those page flips. I think I remember the Madonna issue. That last issue looks great. I miss the old covers that had actual artwork on them. I wonder if restoration is in magazines as much as in comics? Do they have qualified magazine grades? Thanks for sharing. Have a great week.
i'll prefer the modern version since I am exposed to gi joe as an adult and not a child. The only problem is you can't find many vehicles that fit the modern figures since they're really 1/16 instead of 1/18 compared to the vintage o-ring figures. Either you get the vehicles that are made for the modern line or you mod the vintage vehicles to fit them. 3.75 vs modern 4 inches are quite a difference.
One more thing- I mentioned this in "description" for this Video... Again my Condolences to Ben Potter / Comichistorian; his Family and Friends... Age of 40.. is too young. He is younger than me.... LIFE is SACRED Folks... There is NO ROOM for HATE, being FULL yourself, going after things that do not matter, or malice.. etc. REAL Strength is extending a hand in Friendship and Help Vs Closed Fist. When YOU"VE been a Victim of Hate/Discrimination OR Seen the WORST of Man in War and Violence ... You will understand WHY. Its not worth IT. A SELFLESS Life is better mor rewarding that Selfish Life. Ben, despite me not personally knowing him seemed like a very NICE Guy. As I knew people that knew him..The Comicbook Community ( like the GIJOE) and every niche has really a close group of Core. While Im on the outside in Comics and Inner in HCC788 GIJOE .. I know both how both worlds work. ALOT of people have been affected deeply by Ben's Passing and I wanted to take a minute to offer OUR Condolences to them
Nice books. $1K is too steep for me. I could scrounge up the money but I just have a mental block. I don't think I have paid more than $300 for a floppy. Those old Uncanny books are all gems. I used to actually get my comics in the mail from Marvel but they got really beat up by the post office. The only protection was a brown paper wrapper. Have a great week. Thanks.
AA- LOL it would be for me too.. I mean it would "Cost" me a trip to the Doghouse. LOL Im glad you mentioned the Subscriptions ... What was the barcode Newsstand or Direct ? ( i know tis but after work my head is full of Veterinary Med nonsense) .. also would YOU get those low print run GIJoe Issues 135-143 that some came in a polybag with card ( like GHost Rider 29- 1st Mid Night Club) graded or keep in bag with card ?
@@new2vero2 I stopped the subscriptions by early 80s once we got a comic book store. The comics just got too chewed up. about 2 or 3 years back I did get a Hulk subscription for a year for old times sake. Midtown processes them and they come in Polybag. It was fun but they still got a little beat up. I don't remember if they were barcoded or direct edition. I think they were direct edition. I got rid of most of my old books. Sadly I am re-buying some of those issues again. If you have the rest graded, you should grade them but I kept them in bagged form and bought a loose beat up reader copy to have. I am trying to keep my books down. Just dumped 170 graded books and about 3 long boxes of loose books. I keep buying but also keep purging. Thanks.
I run these on my widebody charger in 315 35 20 and I love them for daily driving. They grip pretty damn good and in Miami they perform good in rain so for the price of $115 a tire I can't beat it
Can't believe this came out 30 years ago, I still remember that cover. That and the Gen13 cover with the girls on the front and the guys freaking out in the back cos they were sidelined lol
Damn. I was really hoping you had some solid information on the people who made this game. I know it's Irem, but I want to know who... I have some questions if they are still alive. Also... I did beat this game with the heavy use of save states.... It's a great game, but it has some imperfections that hold it back and make it insanely difficult if not almost impossible at times.
Don’t forget to check out our Graded Magazine unboxing videos .. Graded Mags are actually a different animal to deal with .. Also check out Jim Balent’s modern stuff .. we recapped one of his Tarot With of the black rose comics … as always no one has to buy anything.. it’s just as cool hearing people’s connections past and present
As usual the forgot the Black guy. STALKER was the G.I. Joe field commander from day one in the comics. Also was leading missions on the cartoon until well it was the 80's so a show with two Black characters was a huge leap so asking for one to considered a leader is asking too much of the 1980's attitude.
Never read Wizard but I do like magazines. Just picked up The Jack Kirby Collector #90 from TwoMorrows. I don't read it on the regular but a fun pickup. Have a great week. Thanks.
I'd learned talking with a US Army vet that Duke would make more sense as an E9 in order to be able to give orders to Flint, despite being outranked by him.
@@amitypredator9385 Someone explained that Flint was talking about Operational leadership's Chain of Command. Even though Duke have to salute Flint as the military standard Customs and Courtesies, Duke being a First Shirt is directly in Beachead's Chain of Command. Duke reports directly to the Commander, Flint reports to an MOS OIC. Same as an ISSM(E-5+) that reports directly to the PM (E-7+) and the AO (O-5+), a Warrant Officer would not directly be in his Chain of Command, so the Customs and Courtesies apply to that ISSM but the Warrant Officer is not his Boss. Hope that makes sense!
Preach. It is hard on shops out here. We just had an Eisner Winner shop announce they are closing. I guess a few others down in Santa Monica closed up earlier this year. Normally I skip FCBD but met up with some friends at a shop that is quite a bit south of me. It was nice seeing people. I bought a few books and gave my buddy 2 long boxes of comics. He had quite the free comic book day. Besides I had to get that Energon Universe book. Sounds like you had fun. Thanks for sharing. Have a great week.
Great haul! I also went out for free comic book day with my son. I grabbed the transformers energon universe, and bought the wolverine/ Deadpool WWIII, and Creature from the black lagoon lives! Haven't heard a chance to read them yet but the cover art looks awesome.
beach - sounds like your leading by Example... Awesome taking your son and passing down to another generation. Who Knows what our World will look like by the time he is our age BUT im sure he will treasure going on that "adventure" with his father and pass that down... Wolvie/Deadpool Keys are on fire ( along with Xmen) - which is why I highly recommend that Xforce 2 (DP's 2nd App- that didnt sound right ..lol) Im REALLY interested in that Black Lagoon pickup... let me know
Newspapers are just about dead now. I have watched them get thinner and thinner with less sections. What I didn't realize was how much smaller the actual page is even compared to 20 years ago. I pulled out an old newspaper and it was so much bigger and I am sure papers from the 20th Century were even bigger but didn't save any of them. Thanks for sharing. Have a great week.
AA - I was the ONLY Person to STILL get the newspaper delivered Wed and Sunday.. Growing up it was the Philadelphia Inquirer- I can still remember the "feel" and "smell" of that 80s, 90s Ink... We get TCPalm here in Central Florida and I actually worked for Scrippts for a few years. Initially, I taught it was smaller ( NE CIty Paper Vs Boring Florida Paper) cuz there really is nothing here as we are NOT Miami or Orlando. but your 110% correct . After my tenure with Gov I would've continued with Newspaper Industry but even back in 2010 the soul of it was dying. Print Ads ( 80% of Revenue for Papers was drying out).. Sports Illustrated recently made news with its layoffs.. Even though ( as you know) I HATE showcasing for Monetary, Graded Magazines ( as a collectable) will be the BEST out of all the collectibles just because of the vast demographic a magazine reached Vs Comics or Cards along with REAL World events/People
@@new2vero2 We are still Thursday through Sunday but I look at it online mostly now. The Saturday paper is now just 2 sections out here (LA Times). Very cool you worked in the news, seems like a difficult gig.
Cheryl Tiegs, Christie Brinkley, Kathy Ireland, Elle Macpherson, Rachel Hunter. That was the pinnacle of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue days, with super models on the cover. These days they're really dragging the bottom of the barrel, featuring crap like Martha Stewart on the cover. Great unboxing video, thanks for sharing.
Thank you CGCPB- 1st off thank you and welcome. I will definitely be heading over and checking out your channel as well. If you watch the end of my last Comicbook Pickup episode there are some nice 1955 PBs on their way to grading. You are 110% correct with how things have changed. Devaluation of "excellence" /Top Tier for "everybody can do it" shows a society losing it standards and embracing " average" . Humanity Needs a Elle, Tiegs, Brinkley, MJ, Jim Browns, Barry Sanders, Wayne Grezky's, Harvard, Yale, Rutgers etc etc because those are Unattainable benchmarks the average person can NOT attain BUT should "WORK" to attain. or Push to strive for. This TikiTok/Everybody Can era is definitely going to make it easier for the Robots to overtake us. :)
