Its "Arrogance" when talking about your Rival, but its "Confidence" when you're talking about the same thing with young Duck fans. This guy really is a quack.
One of my favorite things about that stadium is walking down that bridge at night and then boom, there’s Sanford all lit up. That open endzone really gives you the best view of the stadium, you get to appreciate how massive it is
The key is replacing Lynn as DC. The offense will be respectable and put up points. Foster will improve the recruiting and team mindset. C+ hire at this point which could improve if Foster can recruit at a high level and bring in some veteran coaches to move the program along.
Why are you so confident in the offense? The offensive coordinator has not been hired. Ikaika Malloe was elevated to defensive coordinator before Chip Kelly left. He is Lynn’s replacement.
A lot of UCLA alumni did not like Chip Kelly and boycotted the games. I hated the fact that they did this because it hurt the program severely. I support the hire of DeShaun Foster and wish him nothing but the best, and hope the alumni get back out to the Rose Bowl and support the team and coaching staff!
Indiana, Purdue, Rutgers, Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, Illinois, Maryland, and Northwestern are marquee schools? I’d rather go to the Rose Bowl to watch Arizona or Washington State
Nebraska and Iowa have great FB programs and traditions and huge fanbases, far above both Wazzu and Zona, for example. But, in addition to those teams, Paul was referring to Michigan, Ohio St, & Penn State, & a school like Michigan St, which is not in the class of the big three, but is far ahead of Wazzu & Zona in stadium and fanbase and in the class of Iowa and Nebraska. All of those Big Ten schools have stadiums that are double or triple the capacity of Wazzu, and all are at minimum 10,000 seats larger, and some more than double, the capacity at Arizona Stadium. But, the bigger thing he's referring to, is the number of Big Ten fans that buy tickets and travel to games. The Rose Bowl will get a nice boost from programs w/big, wealthy fanbases who want to watch a game in the Rose Bowl, or watch a rematch of a UCLA Rose Bowl game. I hate that the PCC/Pac conference was destroyed but the presidents and chancellors, and their godawful commissioner, Larry Scott, made the league untenable for the big brands. They needed more revenue and exposure and went to where they could get it.
That's what you took away from an interview that told more of the actual story of what's going on at UCLA than any other commenter in the national space? Multiple other radio spots on this page laying out the situation. Another one coming today. How knowledgeable? More than most.
Good stuff from Mark and way to expose Paul. Thanks for shinning light too on how bad chip was at ucla too. I’m tired of 🤡 analysts saying he was great
Wow. That Mark guy saying Deshaun not a name that was mentioned much in the search. That's the name i heard the most. Guess Mark wasn't listening to this search much
I have been to UCLA football games when we played Michigan, Alabama, etc and won. Fans will not go to the Rose Bowl to watch Southern Yipppy Do. This program was once great and can be again.
All you have to do in Los Angeles is win. UCLA athletics has as many fans as any other sporting entity in So-Cal. But they have to make it worth everyone's while.
It's a great hire and everybody in Los Angeles and Orange county are very proud of DeShaun Foster and very happy that UCLA hired him! He's been pumping out NFL running backs and he's a great recruiter and I look for greatness from him!!!!
Norm Van Brocklin’s granddaughter? Wow. 40 years after his death he still holds the record for most passing yards in one game at 554 when he played for the 1951 Rams. The Dutchman was a better QB Bob Waterfield but had to split time with him in the Rams & still earned NFL passing titles.
@@5thdowncfb Appreciate the quick response! Was curious how long you had to explore the other tailgating scene after getting dropped off. Seems like probably a half hour before needing to head inside for opening kick.
@@rileycowan3969 The different types of conditioners probably have slightly different effects but I’m sure they all help to soften and moisturize the leather I think the biggest ones people use are the Wilson conditioner, Big Game conditioner, and leather honey
You are VERY incorrect, little miss, and you should not be allowed to give tours if you do not know the history. Prior to using the name "bulldogs", in 1892 a goat was brought to the games with a black coat that had "UG" on the sides. This was an unofficial mascot, as the team was simply known as the University of Georgia football team. In 1894, a bull terrier names Trilby became our unofficial mascot and many speculate that this is where our "Bulldogs" title came from. It was first used in 1901, but wasn't officially changed until 1920...nine years before Sanford Stadium was even built. During the 30s, 40s, and 50s, many people would bring bulldogs to the games, and parade them around the sidelines. When Sonny Seiler starting bringing his bulldog (Hood's Ole Dan) to the games in 1956, he wore a hand-knitted jersey by his wife, something the previous bulldogs did not have. Wally Butts, then head coach, asked Sonny if he could use Hood's Ole Dan as the team's mascot, and Uga I was born. Since then, every bulldog has come from the line of Hood's Ole Dan.
Joey is a fantastic ambassador of not only the University of Oregon, but the entire state as well. If you haven't listened to this interview in it's entirety, you need to... Quack Attack! 💛💚💛🦆🦆🦆
I think Oregon's revolving door uniforms are just like Phil Knight's latest overpriced shoe versions. Kind of stupid. If you have to WOW the "kids" to make them come to Eugene, you don't have a good foundation for "team over Me"
It’s also where the longest winning streak at home by a pro football team happened-the Dolphins of the NFL won 31 straight counting postseason games at the Orange Bowl from 1971 to 1975.
I love how Joey puts it, " once we had the eyes on us, they changed the uniforms and put me on a billboard". I thought that was pretty cool, considering playing against Joey's team in high school, and the next thing i knew he was on a billboard in NY. Great video, a lot of great stories, and a blast back to the Joey Harrington days.
This has been debated so many times...the first thing I always point out is that it's for the kids. When they first started I remember the "old guys" on ESPN, or whatever show, would make fun of them...again, I would just laugh because the kids love them! So, in my most humble opinion, it doesn't matter what I think...it's for the kids. I'm sending this while Joey is still talking, so no fair attacking me if I'm repeating. 😉 Go Ducks!
