Very impressive telehandler.A high capacity machine. Pettibone has always made rugged and durable construction machines. I am extremely impressed by the 3,000 lbs. load capacity at maximum horizontal reach.
A quick search shows the sx 180 runs around $225K. The JLG 1850SJ runs around $500K. Why the price difference? That difference can't be the 5' in reach.
What kind of hazard of solid tire is used for this equipment, sir?. What types of defects should not be tolerated?. Please give your advice sir. Thanks
Mine make some serious clunking noises when I boom up with the bottom boom. Can't find where to grease the joints. Is there grease fittings. My manual doesn't show grease fittings.
I’m looking at buying a used one but the oscillating axle seems to be stuck. I test drove on the surface that many would consider flat and it was lofting one tire. Any input?
This is a much better Genie than I have, great innovation! Here's what I hate about my older unit: #1 Your engine and electronic covers have big holes towards the back and sides to rout wiring though, big enough for rats and packrats to make a nest and piss-rust all the connections. These should have been in conduit or some sort of heavy duty grommet system. #2 The wires are not wrapped with any sort of protective sleeves to stop abrasion and rodent teeth. #3 My genie doesn't have that pullout engine bay which makes it hard to test / replace starter and alternator, as those parts are sandwiched in the back. #4 The Relays should have all had the LED Light up Relays so that you know they have power and are working properly to quickly assist in diagnostics. #4 The Electrical Documentation for my Year Make Model Machine does not match with reality. Extra Relays, Missing Relays, and Mislabeled Relays, this makes it very frustrating to troubleshoot. #5 The oil plug has no drain out of the bottom of the machine, it will just flood the floor of the engine bay making a big mess to clean up.
I was a boom lift mechanic at a rental company These machines are great when they work properly but have more electrical problems than Genie or JLG . And the phone tech ant the greatest Spend the extra cash and Buy JLG equipment .
Awful customer support. Have JLG and Genie, All the issues are with genies. Absolute junk lifts. Brand new having sensor issues and customer service “doesn’t know” if it’s covered under warranty
YOu mentioned the platform cannot be raised or lowered while in battery maintenance mode. Can it be raised and lowered, at least, when the platform is extented in the working extended range?
I've had to operate these big guys and I don't like being up that high.. anything over 80ft is super sketchy.. they sway so bad it'll make you not want to work..

AND HOW HIGH DOES YOUR BOOM GO ON BOTH UNITS?
Everybody likes air conditioning for the hot days, and heater for the cold days. With the GEHL OR THE MUSTANG DO THEY HAVE BOTH? Do they have a good stereo system in them? You haven‘t said how high will them booms go.
