John may just be the best songwriter of the last 40 years. His own man, reflecting the life of simple Southern folk like us. I hope I get to see him live before he hangs it up.
had the opportunity to open up for him on this 2001 tour, THE main stage of The Gorge (WA state). Bucket list twice for me; play the stage, then open up for an artist who had an impact on me to get back to my roots (I'm a drummer) when I saw him on the Lonesome Jubilee tour. Priot to that, I was a big jazz/fusion guy but seeing 3 hours of bringing it 'caused me to reinvent my style. Bittersweet memories that summer...
I saw him to days after 9/11 in Mansfield Ma. He was the only show in town. Only concert: no baseball or football. A lot of fear. For my friends and me he took that away and I’ll always be grateful.
Man, he wasn't kidding when he called himself bad when he first started. I cant even watch this stuff lol John give your head a shake rolling around the stage like a moron.
I love, love, love his music...right along with Springsteen, Tom Petty, Bob Seger, The Eagles & CCR...perfect playlist for a road trip through the American Southwest, that I will take someday. 🎧🎸🏜️⛽🚐🛣️🎊
I found out years ago that John Mellencamp was from my home state of Indiana while making a delivery at the Wal-Mart DC in Seymour, the security guard told me that it was his birthday and they had been playing his music on the radio all day! I thought that was pretty cool.
I had to stop listen @ 2:01 or I am going to have a legit mental breakdown. My recently passed wife is from Bloomington IN, & I’m from Huntington NY. we’ve driven by both of their houses. Love you Nat🥹
I cannot believe I found this on here! I was there!!! I had just graduated high school. I believe he did 4 nights at Deer Creek. 3 of the nights were regular buy a ticket and get in and that ticket got you in for free to this show on the 4th. The place was PACKED!!! Man. Good Memories of that time of life!
