I've been living in Creede (an hour north) this past month, with frequent trips to Pagosa for supplies. Everything is pretty awesome, but I'm concerned what happens if there is a medical emergency. I guess you just die? Beyond that, it's pretty awesome.

Sure sounds wonderful. You folks get a bit more snow than I do up here in BC, but it is a lot warmer than the 30 & 40 below we get up here. I don't think I could handle the Denver Politics, other than that I could move tomorrow.

All politics are hyper local. Compared to Texas, I have more freedom living here and my taxes are lower here. So I'm pleased.

Our family has owned a seasonal home in Pagosa Uptown since '08, and we spend about half the year there. When I'm not in Pagosa, I tell outside people who ask where our place is in Colorado that it's "near Durango." I don't want them to know Pagosa exists. It's become overrun since the Pandemic. *shhh*.

Do you got any good tatoo shops? I can't go long without getting some new ink. I'd be a show stopper for me. Also bars, need some good inexpensive drink shops to also make my connections if you know what I mean.

It is actually it is about 6 miles back and fourth and it takes at least 2-3 hours. This is coming from a 12 year old, I went with my dad a year ago and we spent the night there. No hate though, there is many fish to catch and I hope you enjoyed your trip😁

Locals always say "don't move here".... (I have certainly been guilty of it....but) The thing is, everyone is moving everywhere ALL THE TIME. Californians to Texas, Texans to Colorado, and everywhere in-between. This list sounds to me like a "You should move here video" and that's the point... If someone from Texas moves there, doesn't want to change the culture and in fact, loves it, wants to support the local economy, and feels more home there than anywhere.... Why the "don't move here" attitude? We are all people and trying to find our best life and fit in this world. Potholes and bears are easy, try living in downtown Austin and having your whole city over-run by folks that want nothing more than to change it and change it they did. Tourism runs most towns but if someone legitimately wants to be a full-time part of your community, maybe leave the "stay where you came from" attitude at home and out of the comments section. I'll wave and maybe we can go for a hike sometime. Great Video This is Pagosa!!, really charming, funny, and well put. See ya neighbor! :)

Let the rental company know their customers are continuously off trail, speeding by pedestrians (hikers), drinking alcohol and extremely rude. Stay The Trail, Share Trails, educate before renting. 🥸

We sold our place in Pagosa Springs and moved to Hesperus, near Durango. I would live in Pagosa Springs but all the above is true. We like our place better than the old place especially NOT being in the "uptown Pagosa" PLPOA . We would never buy into that side of town again.

can you offer any details on the Pagosa Lakes Property Owner's Association and why it's so bad? It would be very appreciated...
@MaggieWolf-7777
@MaggieWolf-7777 18 дней назад
@@moriscondo5511 PLPOA is a homeowners association on steroids. Dues are low but there are lots and lots of regulations (house colors, height of grass, permits to fell dead trees, and on on). Most people want to be in PLPOA because it has a great rec center with good exercise equipment and beautiful indoor pool (the only pool in Pagosa right now), and those who don't own a lot inside PLPOA aren't allowed to use it. PLPOA is definitely a mixed bag.

Other than the rise of the internet and AirBnBs, these are the same complaints I heard (and made) 20 years ago when I lived there. Excellent video for anyone considering a move there. For the right person there is no better place. Oh, and the nightlife ended when the Bear Creek burned down (RIP).

Enjoyed your commentary. Surprised you did not really mention the Hot Springs as I believe Pagosa has the deepest geothermal spring in the USA. After all, Pagosa was named by the Ute Indians as it means "healing waters" referring to the medicinal qualities of the springs. It's also a naturally green downtown as most of the buildings are heated geothermally. I know the Mud Pub is gone but hope the Elkhorn Cafe is still around. They had the best green chili and cheese omelets.

You nailed it. We love Pagosa for all these reasons and find it wonderful year round. Skiing today with no lift lines at Wolf Creek was so nice under bluebird skies and spectacular views. Breathtaking! Every season brings new fun things to do. We are part timers but seem to find ourselves here more and more. Relaxing in the Hot Springs this week was so relaxing and therapeutic that I decided it’s something we need to do more. We bought here almost 4 years ago and have not had a moment of regret. Thanks for highlighting our wonderful town. ❤

EXCELLENT. I LOVE IT. But there are much more than just "occasional" barking dogs. And snow can be a ton of work, not a little. And the snowstorms that bring it aren't on any schedule other than that of God, who cares not for the schedules of humans.

yes, but the dog barking is controllable, IF you live in the HOA. A catch 22.

Me and my girlfriend visited and stayed there with our RV for a week and a half… I found an R2 lot on a lake that I loved… Met with a couple contractors and they were very honest with me… Building materials, cement, etc. is twice as much… And labor you’re lucky to get people to even show up… Scared me off, but I do love the area
