I'd get 16-18 from a stock T3 for anywhere from 10km to 1000km in my BT1, but yeah... Even at 12psi it was game over in about 3,000-5000km. I'll never forget my first non stock turbo upgrade. First T4 and then a T51R made famous from Japanese cars. So laggy, it came on boost around 4,400-4700 rpm with 1500-2000rpm to use, but that 400+WHP for 1500-2000rpm would chop almost anything around Melb in 1993 😂 If only I knew it was lacking fuel so badly at that time. I would have had 600hp until I broke something, if I had a better fuel system. Probably a blessing in disguise for the car and my life tbh. That was a fun, but deadly car! Amazed it still exists with about engine #10, turbo #98 and owner 7
@@motorfools I have never seen or heard of an 85 Vl ... Vk was 85 but I'm no expert. Yes ya said some 88 I was just saying there'd be heaps of 88s around as mines like July or something of 88 but never ever seen an 85 .. my father has an early vl even on 14s and it is an 86.
These tags say this calais is NOT a factory turbo. Engine LF1 = RB30E LW5 = RB30ET Trans MS1 - turbo auto ML4- na auto ……. But this is a good earliest example 1985, as the offical run is 86 to 88, and Everglades green is amazing rare colour.
Unfortunately when they built this car they put it under drivers carpet. It's there but unreadable. I've heard sometimes a second one is in the roof. But haven't checked yet.
@@motorfools 😂😂 I say it like I'm gonna buy it haha. Only mentioned it coz u were mentioning the fake tags and stamps etc. The build sheet is a frameable ornament of the car. But great car bud
@@kadtrick holy crap....I just realised I didn't even mention the importance of a build sheet in buying a genuine car. How on earth did I miss that!!!!!. I'll have to mention it in next vid
@@lukie246 I sold the car in 1990, and I can't remember all the details of the plate. It was written off when it was a dealer demo at a Holden dealer in Belconnen ACT. They bought a new shell and rebuilt the car. I was the 3rd owner in 1988.
Yeh so I found out that a nasco shell is a completely new shell and all the old parts of the first car where transferred over so it’s a legal numbers job
Super clean Calais! could tune that vl as is and it would sit with the vf no problems! Despite the insane price rises they are still bang for buck one of the fastest street cars to build! for around $2000 worth of part’s spent on a stock one it would leave it behind on the 1/4! Still handling like rubbish though! But damn that clubby is tough! It’s so disappointing that they are no more!
