The eyes themselves are unexpressive. It is the area around the eye that is moved by our muscles that show our feelings like when we scowl or get surprised. The eyeball itself doesn't really change, but the eyelids for example open wide or we wrinkle between our brow, etc. except for one thing. Science has found that the direction your eyes look and other tells are statistically extremely common when people are lying. I've seen a show where someone trained in this who had probably a normal amount of people skills was kind of accurate. I have extremely high people skills and I'm pretty close to an empath even though such a thing doesn't actually exist, and I was able to be much more accurate. When people are really good at lying you can't tell by people skills alone unless your people skills subconsciously make you feel that someone's lying when their eyes move in a certain direction or they give other tells that science has found are part of lying. In cases where people are really good at lying, science would be more helpful. With acting it feels real to all of us if the acting is good. The weird thing is, good acting very very rarely looks like real life. Acting is about making us feel the character but how people move and behave in real life is significantly different yet acting tends to be believable when done well so that is a great example of lying that we don't see through, even with science because they don't give those tells when they're acting. So with a bit of rehearsal, a liar may not be find out by science and a person would probably be better at detecting such liars if they naturally already spotted the differences between acting in real life because of their high people skills and awareness of feeling and body language. The reason for the main tell is when we access the creative part of our brain are eye looks in a certain direction usually almost every single time for nearly everyone and when we access memory our eyes look in a different direction.
