Are there any huge disadvantages to the 4' trencher? I found a good deal on one but only have the TX427.
@richeyclapperinc.4478
@richeyclapperinc.4478 8 месяцев назад
Well, the 4’ unit will take a bit more power to run. The TX427 will do it, but the performance will really depend on how deep you're trying to go.

What about weeds? When it buries the weeds, will they resprout?
@richeyclapperinc.4478
@richeyclapperinc.4478 Год назад
Yes they will. It will kill the current weed plant but won’t do anything to the weed seeds.

@richeyclapperinc.4478 so then what? Seed and then weed and feed?

It doesn't matter what you do in lawn care, you're going to run into weed seeds that you'll have to contend with. If you're dealing with cool season lawns you may want to check out Mesotrione, or the brand name Tenacity. You can use this with many cool season turf types when seeding and it will give you 3 weeks of pre-emergent properties and kill a lot of weed seeds that try to germinate with the desirable turf grass. Since you're watering and fertilizing for a new turf, that water and fertilizer will also help weed seeds start to germinate as well, which is fine. The Meso will stop a lot of pesky weeds. You can't use Meso a second time until 30 days after the 1st application so you have just over a week with no protection from weeds and some weeds will start to sprout. Depending on the weed you can ignore it and treat it with the Meso again after 30 days, or pull the weeds by hand if they are a PITA like Goosegrass, which grows quickly and lays low, and covers a lot of new seed real estate. Unchecked, it can be a pain. There likely won't be that much so hand pulling is a good option. Just don't spin on the balls of your feet and dig up the tender grass you're trying to grow. Or you can wait until the grass is established and treat with other herbicides. You may want to consider doing a split app, putting down a 50% strength mix of herbicides, then putting down the 2nd half 1-2 weeks later. Since the weeds should be immature, that 1st application will kill most of them, and the 2nd should take out most of the rest. This is a kid-glove way to protect your young turf. Another option is for turf types that will not work with Meso is to spray the area with Glyphosate and kill everything. Come back 3-4 days later and mow as low as you can. Water as if you're growing a new lawn to trigger weed seeds to germinate and after giving these weed seeds time to germinate, come back 14 days later and spray another application of Glyphosate to kill the weeds which are germinating. That will put a huge dent in the weeds you'll be fighting. If you've used the tools in the video, everything should be pretty level where you can mow low if that's your goal. If the soil's not as flat as you'd like, borrow a drag mat that will cut down the high spots and deposit the excess in low areas and then you'll be able to mow at or under 1 inch everywhere. Personally, I find it very easy to allow the soil to dry, then pull my Sun Joe dethatcher tines backwards. This leaves small ruts of dry soil about 1/2 inch deep. I put down my seed and when the watering starts it covers the seeds very shallow which is what seed like KBG or Zoysia need.

Do you just use the float function when drilling or are you putting downforce pressure on with the loader?

No, I'm not using float. In our experience float allows the machine to dig too deep.

Is it compatible with Bobcat Mt100 mini skid steer 2022 mode
@richeyclapperinc.4478
@richeyclapperinc.4478 2 года назад
It depends on which face plate your Bobcat MT100 has. If you have the optional universal mini-skid face plate, then yes it would be compatible. If you have the standard BobCat attachment plate, then it would not be compatible unless you had an adaptor.

Is there a way to put it in neutral in order to pull it?
@richeyclapperinc.4478
@richeyclapperinc.4478 2 года назад
Yes. You'll need to open the bypass valves before you attempt to tow or pull - otherwise you will damage the hydraulic system. 1. If possible, raise the hopper and install the cylinder lock. 2. Shut off the engine and remove the key. 3. Using a wrench, turn the bypass valve on the left and right transaxles so that the flat sides of the valve face left and right. (tow position) 4. Tow the machine as required. 5. After repairing the machine, turn the bypass valves so that the flat sides face up and down. 6. Remove the cylinder lock and lower the hopper. Hope this helps!

Any cones on wheels how are the tracks with rutting the lawn
@richeyclapperinc.4478
@richeyclapperinc.4478 3 года назад
Hi Richard. Not sure about your cone question, but the tracks offer lower ground pressure than a wheeled unit, which is good news for lawns. Much gentler on them.
