Professional folk singer since 1964 having sung folk songs since 1958; I've met and sung with Pete Seeger and Paul Robeson among countless others. Founder member of Kimber's Men - formed in June 2001. Subsequently resigned from Kimber's Men in October 2016. I had been very ill that year (nearly dying in May 2016) from Cancer. So after 15 years I was subsequently told I hadn't been missed in the six months whilst I was in hospital and wouldn't be missed in the future. So I'm working solo again and relieved to be out of a band where I was clearly disliked and not wanted.
There's an old man called the Donald That's the old man I don't like, you see What does he care if the world's got troubles? What does he care if the land ain't free? Old man Donald That old man Donald He don't know nuthin' But just keeps lyin' He just keeps stealin' His whole life's been doing what's wrong.
Calvin was one of my best friends I photographed his first 45 and his first cassette cover. He gave me one of his demo's it's to die for and I miss him every single day.
That Professors Hays, Gilbert, Hellerman and Seeger were still at it with a vengeance as late as 1980 was nothing short of answered prayer. We were immeasurably blessed to have had them with us for as long as we did.
I gave him a lift in my car once, at a stringed instrument weekend in Witney, Oxfordshire. Seen him perform 50 years apart, as a teenager in the 70s and a couple of times over the last decade. Great man.
when metro redid this movie that singer i forgot his name did a far better job, What is it with you people. Why can't you admit that , that poor guy Robeson can't sing.
Theres a hole in your budget dear Labor dear Labor Labor cant say how they'd pay for billions in extra spending. That means: More taxes are coming more taxes with labor. IT WONT BE EASY UNDER ALBANE$E Authorised by A. Hurst Liberal, Canberra
I love this, having worked for Brendan Healy who covered the WAters of Tyne, and Jimmy Nail, these songs are so lovely and so discriptive that it transports you to the North East and the Tyne.💌
I can’t stop watching this. There’s something eerie, fascinating, and even satisfying about a 1940s deep-voiced western black man singing the Chinese national anthem with very accurate pronunciation.
Sad to see all the great REAL county music singers gone.... gospel songs that mean something and word's you could understood......music that was soothing and inspirational.......George Strait last of the older singers left. Don't know if Alan Jackson still kicking or not....thank God for utube snd and old video....can live with that....
Thank-you very much for posting this! We regularly saw Arizona Smoke Review as they toured round, including my mother's folk club in Sydenham. They were all consummate musicians and always so exhilarating and fun!
