What make of rod u using and what action? What’s the average size of trout in that river? Hard to beat the wild brown trout, my local river in Co Antrim is stunning similar to yours! but the trout are just sooo small, but we’re lucky enough to get a good run of salmon and dollaghan late in the year
Hi, nice video and comparison. I have the Tactical pro nymph special 10.6' #3 as well and quite happy with it, a bit trying for dry fly. I am looking for another one for 50-50 split between nymphing and dry flies - one rod whatever comes on the river type of setup. Which one would you recommend (if you tried them) between Tactical LX and HX? I am thinking 10' #4 LX or 10' #3-4 HX. Do you think 9.6' 3-4 from tactical pro series would be better overall and length-wise than a 10' #4? I also have a good 9'#4 rod.
I would have to favour the HX, they are a beautiful rod. A really good "all rounder" is the original marryat tactical 10ft 3wt (it's also great value for money).
Hi Ben. The boot was so much better than the cast. Being able to take it off at night or while on the sofa was way more comfortable. Hope the recovery is going well!
Well done bro!!!! I need to up my cardio for the last few weeks! But keep up the videos even after the challenge ! It’s great to see passion and determination Shane!!! Keeps me inspired 💪
Like neale said it’s great to see Irish fishing on RU-vid your turning out great videos and looking forward to watching the rest of them we have unbelievable fishing here in this country and I’m glad to be part of it the marryat rods are very nice the 5/6 looks like a great all rounder and like you said in the other review video it’s so important to have a rod that’s a good fishing rod that you enjoy using keep up the good work Shane take care
You might know from my channel I'm only starting fly fishing. Got myself 9'6'' tactical Pro no 6/7. Cracking rod, look forward to hook something on it! A good video, best of luck with the channel
Hi, just came across your channel. I live on the east coast of N.I. i usually use just a Shakespeare rod in 10ft #3 but I'll definitely look at getting a Marryat Rod after watching this. Tight lines for the future.
Just came across your chanel, subed, love it.Could you please tell me why copolymer and do you use mud, floatant or both. I'm very interested in how people make up their dry fly leaders and tippet. Look forward to seeing more. Tight lines
Thanks for the kind words Martin. I use copolymer or monofilament attached to the tapered leader for a little extra strength, shock absorbtion and to keep most of the leader floating on the surface. The fluorocarbon at the end is to just break the water surface... In terms of mud and floatant, I use mud on the flats in a river, not so much in broken water. I use the pros choice dry fly treatment on my fly and mucilin on my line and tapered leader. Hope this helps 👍
What u think of the chest pack? I ordered a taimen one not sure Wht it’ll be like but was cheap enough. Yours looks pretty bulky wud u say it gets in the way sitting infront of you or is it ok
I've used chest packs for the last 12 years, absolutely love them. The one I'm using at the moment is one I got in the states a few years back. Perfect size for what I want to put in it.... I think they're brilliant, never notice them in front of me to be honest. More room for your arms in comparison to a vest I think. 👍
